Hair color?

You can make a decent washed out blonde (grayish-yellow) but not with a real yellow in it like Haley and Sam. And just a few hairstyles even let that color shine through. There are quite a few people online elsewhere who like to discuss using choice language whether that's a real blonde or not (yep, people gots opinions, who knew??) but it's nothing like Sam's or Haley's.

White is equally inaccessible for the identical reasons, the best you get is light gray. The reason is that the details in the Farmer's hair are darker while the details in the Villagers' hair are lighter. You could call these details 'highlights' and IMO that'd be true for Villagers but for the Farmer they're closer to 'highdarks'.

When going for Blonde, I usually choose the following:

15, 99, 99

You can also do 14 for a little more yellow but it's darker. 16 gets towards green. The recommendation I see online is then to take the second number and drag it to the left but I feel that just desaturates the hair, making it whiter but not really blond-er. I stay with the setup you see here but yeah, that's where the opinions make themselves quite known.

In a similar vein here's gray, definitely not white:

Other hairstyles with a decent amount of blondey-yellow showing:

There are a few others with a decent blonde highlight but IMO in those the hair looks light brown/dirty blonde with a decent blonde highlight instead of, hey are you cosplaying Haley? :haley:

My hair irl was dirty blonde for decades so it looked like normal for me, but I’ve tried in Stardew to represent a more true yellowish blonde hair like I always wished but yep it looks more like blondes when they come it of a heavily chlorinated pool. Like you know it’s blonde but it’s tinged with green from the chlorine lol. Or when I tried to “yellow” my hair irl when I was young by using Sun In when tanning outside it turned a light orangish yellow (which you can also represent in Stardew easily) so I’m glad I never resorted to more permanent hair dyes irl. My hair was meant to be dirty blonde. And surprise, after I went through menopause my hair darkened significantly instead of greyed so it’s like a medium brown now which is super easy to represent in Stardew. So I can totally relate irl never achieving the true rich yellow blonde of my dreams hair, neither will Stardew let me lol.

I tried to make my character white haired but it felt impossible like the shading kinda makes the white look gray and the blondes are nowhere near what Sam and Haley have
So what hair colors do you guys have cause I feel like im never happy with mine
Tried to make my character have white hair too, and it looks kinda grey as you say, or with black/dark highlights. But I needed to make everything white because I named him after my cat, and he is white. Or silver-tipped as the correct term apparently is.

Colours is confusing in this game. Would like to colour buildings too, but then the colour picker shows up, and I deflated go back out of the menus 😭

That's a much nicer "white" than I get when I try to make a moogle (white fluffy creature with pink wings) or my favorite IRL rabbit (they have all been New Zealand whites, which are albino). I'll have to make a trip to the Shrine of Illusions!

Don't know the values I picked, but here is my guy. My cat is longhaired, so my farmer had to have bushy hair, haha. Looks pretty similar, but maybe a little more grey or dark?

You 100% have the same gray color I have set in my test farmer but your hairstyle has more of the dark highlights in it while the 4 styles I show have the most highlight pixels I can see out of all 100+ styles. Some hairstyles have almost no color highlights to them or only a small amount, it's a little frustrating. Lotsa great hair but bad support for brighter colors or whites.

Now I sound like a laundry detergent commercial.
