grass in the winter?

So I'm playing a new farm but I haven't played in about 2 years, when I used to play them game a LOT.

I could have sworn that grass disappears once winter starts. I cut most of mine down except for a few patches of decorative grass. Winter year 1 just started and... the grass was there!

Was this updated in a patch or am I completely misremembering?

Since 1.6 grass no longer dies in winter, but during winter doesn't spread or give as much hay when cut. The wiki's version history page has changelogs for all patches if you want to search for specific changes!
