Gold vs IRL Money

The goods versus labour pricing is super whack in stardew, you'll pay 400g for a beer which sounds pretty reasonable (assuming it translates into 1/100 of a pound/dollar/euro/etc.), but then it only costs 10 beers worth of cash for 3 days of labour making a whole coop, with inside amenities like hay (the floors) and a feeding trough, hay hopper, etc.

Same goes for pretty much anything, too. Only costs 1000g to make Willy abandon a while day at the shop to ferry you to ginger island, stay the whole day there, then give you a ride back, too. Upgrading your tool to copper (making most of them much more effective) only costs as much as 10 salads, which feels criminal seeing as Clint pretty much toils away at it (too busy to attend his shop) for a couple days until its ready.

I think everybody in the valley has their own idea of currency, so everybody thinks that everything costs different things. Like, I pay Marnie so much money to give me pigs and rabbits and she still complains about money, same with Clint.
