Mac game file not syncing

hello!
in july of 2024 i transferred my save file from ios iphone to a 2022 mac on steam. i have played 2+ in game years, and just realized that my save file says it was last modified in july of 2024. the stardew farm planner and checkup both appear to have my iphone game data when i upload my save file to them.

i am not very technologically adept, but i have scoured the internet for help with this issue to no avail, i have searched everywhere i can click on in my computer files. please please help me, i fear that my save file is somehow corrupt or otherwise damaged. i have no issue playing the game, and i have verified the files on steam. i am confused!

Hello fleeborella and Welcome to the Forums! Steam verification only works for the files that run the game itself but not your Save files so that doesn't help. However your Save files are probably OK if Steam sees them and you can continue playing and progress to the next day.

If you want to make a local copy of your Saved games, you can get to them this way:

In the Finder, click the Go menu and then Go to Folder
Enter this exact text: ~/.config/StardewValley/Saves
Click Submit to open the folder

Each folder in there is one complete Save file. Right click (or CTRL-click) on your Farm-named folder and select Copy. Open your Documents folder (or anywhere else, doesn't matter) and right click (or CTRL-click) and select Paste.

Once you've made that copy of your Farm Save, open the copy we just put in your Documents folder and see what the Date Modified on each of the 4 files are. 2 should match the most recent time you finished an in-game day, with the _old versions matching when you finished the previous in-game day.

If they don't match dates then I'm not sure what to say but this is a copy of where Steam (and GOG and probably every other place you can buy SDV from) stores it's Save data.
