PC Game crashing after picking up object

Hello, my game crashes both in multiplayer and single player whenever i pick up an object like an egg or a fruit. When the game crashes, it shows the "stardew valley not responding" error message and closes after a short while. I'm playing the game on steam and the error message is:

Message: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.

I've tried uninstalling, rebooting PC, reconnecting internet, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help? I don't have any mods either, nor does the person I play with have any either. Does anyone have advice? Thank you!
