For some reason, the game only supports xbox 360 controllers and doesn't make use of the native MacOS controller drivers. That means xbox one and ps4 controllers don't work at all (Wired and wireless). The work around I used to use is to install a xbox 360 driver that lets you spoof an xbox 360 controller but with the release of Big Sur it's not supported anymore. Even then, it was a hassle because you couldn't use the controller wirelessly. Many users have ran into this issue online and only hacky workarounds were proposed as solutions (All of them no longer work on Big Sur). It would be great if full support could be added in a future update.
