Windows FPS drop

Hello,

This thread is somewhat in between modded and vanilla problems and I just wasn't sure where to post it.

I've been playing the game with friends for 2 weeks now and for the first 3 days I had a major issues with FPSs, they used to drop every other minute to very low values making it impossible to play in the mines due to mobs killing me when I'm looking at 10 frames a second, a friend found a fix which is using compatibility mode on the Steam game options, which works perfectly, but now that we've decide to use some mods I've found out that i can't use mods with said compatability mode, which leads me to have FPSs drops all the time if I want to install mods.
I've repaird, uninstalled, reinstalled XNA 4.0, .NET 5.0, chose various combinations of CPU core affinity, set the game to high priority(which instantly changes to normal after a couple seconds), ran the game exe on different compatability modes(Vista Service packs,Win7, Win8).

My PC is running on Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz, 8GB of RAM(soon upgrading to 16), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Windows 10 Home N
Current Stardew Valley version is: 1.5.6.22018(according to the exe) and 1.5.6 Hotfix #3 (according to in-game info)

Thank you for taking your time reading.

Hello Batatinhas and Welcome to the Forums!

I'll try this out but am short on time right now. I have a Core i7-4790 but more importantly a 1050 Ti video card to match yours, which could be the source of the problem. Now SDV does play well on way lower performance computer parts so it really should be fine for both of us but we'll see what happens on mine, as I don't think I've installed it yet on this PC.

OK I installed and tried the latest regular version (from GOG as that's where I get PC SDV from) and it's working OK. One thing you can try, as this worked for someone else, is to install the current version of your video card drivers. I'm using v516.59 which is one version out of data (current is 516.94) but updating video card drivers worked for someone else recently on plain old integrated video.

If possible, choose a factory reset or clean install or similar when installing the newest version to try any clear out old versions or even settings which might be getting in the way. I get the current drivers from TechPowerUp:

but you can get them direct from Nvidia if you prefer.

Im playing on Steam, I have done what you recommended but still doesn't stop the fps drop, I did notice that after playing on compatibility mode for a while and then switching over to regular does seem to have reduced the ammount and time of dropping of frames, I went ahead and played with my friends yesterday and it wasn't as bad as it used to be, maybe due to some files being left behind after using said compatability mode allowed some compatibility settings to be injected into the regular version???
