Fishing on the ipad

Hi everyone, I have a question. I play Stardew Valley on the iPad and I don't get a fish on the line. Is it possible that this is harder or impossible to control on a pad? Does anyone else have problems? Have already watched several videos and tried to find something, but all play with mouse or joypad.... I'm at a loss and frustrated 🙁
Hello, mobile player here, tap and hold on the screen to make the bar go up, release to let it go down. I usually use the training rod until i can get iridium rod, it its a bit tricky but training rod puts the bar at lvl 5 size

I’m on iPad. I find using the pencil works better than the controllers. Definitely training rod and mountain lake carp are plentiful. If a green bar goes crazy you likely got a chub they are a bit harder, just let it go and try again. You can eat the carp you catch so you can practice all day. It does get easier. After almost 4 years of practice I can even catch legendary fish within about 10 tries a piece. Also crab pots if you have like 10-20 will also rack up fishing experience slowly but surely and help you get that level and thus the bar size up.Once you reach level 5 if you can afford the iridium rod or even the fiberglass rod, then you can start making deluxe bait at home, it helps the fish bite faster and greatly increases the bar size. I think you can make it once you get to level 5. Willy’s shop has it but it’s way too expensive. Best craft your own or once you get better at fishing you can find it in fishing treasure chests. Best of luck hope this and all the great other info helps you!

I had a fisherman (not a farmer) on the iPad. Smee had only one goal: catch Legend in Spring 1. And he did it! He was pretty lucky - got a Neptune's glaive early on which made it easy to get bug meat for bait and copper for trap bobbers.

I'm going to get really technical now, because the best analogy I've found for how to control the rod is Pulse Width Modulation. The height of the bar in the window is related to the duty cycle of your tapping. The longer the duty cycle, the higher the bar hangs in the window. Frequency matters, too, for the faster fish.

I play exclusively on iOS or iPadOS, And Smee never left the iPad. That was my last 1.5 save.

i just wanted to thank you for your reply! I’ve caught a few fish after this, and you really helped. I think I needed to read what you wrote, and also slow down my expectations a bit. I also used a fish taco which aided the reeling process enough that it helped me see the speed I needed to tap. Thank you again - you’re a peach <3
Congrats! Keep at it! Fishing can get fun and relaxing once you get it down. Once you level up and can afford the new fish smoker and/or can befriend Linus to 3 hearts and receive the Sashimi recipe it can be more profitable. The fish smoker doubles fish profits for any fish, including crab pot fish. As a rule: Fish worth 70g or less should be sashimi. It can either be put in shipping bin for profit or eat it as a cheap basic food source. Also fish ponds can also bring in cash and resources you might need.

big congrats! 🎉. It took me irl months to get it down to basic fish catching, let along more difficult ones. Then it actually became fun. You can watch villagers go about their days and fish at the same time.

If you grow your own rice, any fish worth less than 100g can be turned into a maki roll for profit as well. (Maki roll=220g, rice=100g, seaweed=20g). And you can grow rice anywhere indoors year round.

I enjoy fishing a lot
