Windows Fishing mini-game will not trigger

The issue: I can successfully cast any fishing rod, using left mouse button or C keybind, but cannot trigger the fishing minigame. Using neither clicking nor C works; it only reels the rod back in. I cannot for the life of me think of what would happen to cause the issue, I had not had any trouble up til now. I think it started during/after the trout tournament but I really cannot say for certain. It makes no difference what rod I use, or whether I have bait or a bobber. I have had only one successful reel-in since the issue started, and it was not a mini-game, just algae.

I've tried doing some searching through these forums, Reddit, and Steam, and I've seen some folks post similar issues but I haven't seen or been able to figure out a resolution. Any help appreciated!

Replying to add that it appears to be affecting my other characters/worlds/saves as well.

An update: it seems fine now. What changed was my UI and game zoom, I don’t know if that was the reason or not.
