Fish Pond Favorites

After playing with the planned design of my current -fish focused- beach farm (Huntress Farm), I've increased the planned number of fish ponds from twenty to twenty-four. I haven't decided which fish to put in the final four and was wondering if anyone would like to share which fish are their favorites for whatever reason. Maybe you like the look of the fish, the extra items they give, or the items that request?

Here are the fish I have or plan to have (I'm just finishing up Year One so I have a way to go -eight out of the planned twenty-four are built) so far:

2. Lava Eel
3. Angler
4. Rainbow Trout
5. Sturgeon (considering replacing this one later)
6. Legend
7. Glacierfish
8. Octopus
9. Blobfish
10. Midnight Carp
11. Mutant Carp
12. Void Salmon
13. Crimsonfish
14. Ice Pip
15. Stingray
16. Slimejack
17. Midnight Squid
18. Flounder
19. Super Cucumber
20. Sea Urchin

My favorite is Ms. Angler - unlike the other relatives of legendary fish, this one has a variant color than its original relative, and the pink hue is stellar! It's a must have in my pond because I would like to ideally gather all the colors.

You know, I've never caught the extended family fish. By the time I unlock the walnut room, none of the rewards seem exciting and I usually forget it exists, to be honest. Maybe I should catch each of them this time.

My farm help's house is surrounded with them. Every morning when we open the door, all of them jump out of the pond simultaneously to greet us! What a lively bunch.

You should definitely catch the Extended Family! Their low reward makes it fun (after all you aren't doing it for the reward but for the challenge, in that case), but also they are great everywhere - fish ponds, aquariums, smoked, aged, in chest. Can't go wrong with a few of 'em!

Lots of fish ponds too, currently they’re all anchovy, I’m trying to collect all the fish and fish items in a whole stack of 999 so I need a LOT of ponds, I’m thinking around 75-80 will be my end goal

Wow! Do you have seventy-one fish ponds? That's crazy. How many fish do you remove at once and how long does it take them all to respawn?
And are those coops on Grandpa's memorial island? Can you get inside them all?

Anglerfish and Lionfish are among my favorite fishes IRL so they would both definitely get the benefits of a fish pond from me. I'd be tempted to honor Catfish, my Spring Year One moneymaker, with a pond of their own as a reward for their smoked brethren's contribution to my starting economy. A Coral pond is always a vibe IMHO, maybe set up some benches and a few tubs of flowers (or seasonal plants/decorations) for a nice resting spot. Maybe Stonefish and Woodskip for that trickle of basic resources? A Salmon pond for my man Alex, a Lobster pond for Elliott, a Carp pond for daily Sashimi for Sebastian. Actually a little funny how many of my favorite bachelors can be kept happy with fish ponds now that I think about it.

this is the second farm where I planned to get one of every fish pond. I think the first has even more but it’s on a different device. I still don’t know if there would be enough space for all of them.

I managed to incorporate 36 Fish Ponds in my Meadowlands farm map! All of them are my favorites! Those include:

Fish that change water color (the old 4, plus 1x each Legendary/Legendary 2 fish)

All Fish that are used in cooking (no need to go fishing, when you need to prepare a dish anymore)

Fish that are favorites as gifts (especially Octopus, since it produces Omni Geodes)

Deep Sea Fish (personal favorites)

All of them are special, in one way or another! Be it for the cool looks, the item(s) they produce, or the extra animation they have inside Fish-Tanks. The only downside is, i need a stupidly large amount of barrels... My plain old Big Shed with 137x inside, doesn't cut it, anymore...

Then use it to produce Caviar in my preserves jar


And sell the caviar for a high price at Pierres Store

Yes! Embrace all things fish! Build all the fish ponds! Fill a big shed (or a few rooms of your farmhouse, no judgement) with preserve jars for all that beautiful roe! Line your shores with crabpots! Have a dozen deluxe bait makers dancing away on your farm! Fish 8+ hours a day! Become BFFs with Willy! Rejoice in your love of the fishes! The valley has so much to offer us fish lovers!

I like the crabs and the pufferfish for this reason! They look so happy jumping out in the morning. I'll admit I only added slimejack's to the list due to the pond recoloring properties but since Sebatian is already trying to sell my farmer on raising slimes, getting in more slimes to press *nto eggs with definitely be a bonus!

Thank you so much for checking! I've already gotten some from my crab pond/recycle machines, as well as all the cloth I needed to build a mill. It's one of the reasons I always have a crab pond, lol. I think the snails you memtioned earlier also give recycables, so maybe I'll get more!

I often do the night market fish, because I love them. Sometimes I do one pond each of the mines fish, just to have a matching set to go with the lava eel. Sometimes slimejacks just for fun. Sometimes one each of the island fish. I just really like having a full set of fish.
