Fighting outfit (Spoilers)

I did do Danger in the Deep, since that or Skull Cavern Invasion is needed for Perfection. ☢ If you can handle the Volcano (and you clearly can) you can handle the Dangerous Mines.
I did! I thought I might do a practice run before SC so I did the Danger Mines quest yesterday and found a Prismatic Shard off a stone golem!

I'm mostly trying to learn how bombs work (radiuses etc.) without worrying much about luck of the day and special foods, and the Mines are a fun place to do that. I don't die very often there (although I did die once, when a radioactive ghost made me too sick to eat, who does that, come on ghost, that is just wrong...)

This made me aware I really DO need immunity. I pretty much ignored it, thinking I'd better evade and heal, but apparently being able to resist debuffs is quite important.

I also found a Galaxy Soul. Not sure yet what I need it for, but it's pretty...

I left the mines several times because I was too nauseous to eat and then someone here told me there's an antidote.

it's ginger. And ginger ale.

Small update, just so you know all your great advice has been heeded and is being slowly implemented!

I've been practicing a lot in the dangerous mines. Still not completed the special defense outfit, so just iridium + luck and crabshell + immunity rings, cinderclown boots and unmodified galaxy sword. It's not bad, playing in the mines. The squids are very hard to target though!

I also made a small practice run in the SC and hey, got to level 100 without dying, and found a prismatic shard! The snakes don't feel so tough anymore.

Why? Play the game the way you want to :)
Just keeping an open mind. I've been trying the tougher version of the Mines with Cinderclown boots, two rings - crabshell+burgular & crabshell+immunity, and it's hard to not to be overwhelmed by numbers.
I know the Infinity Gavel hits harder, but it seems so SLOW compared to the Sword - even with food and beverage boosts. I don't really know the numbers, but it feels like I can get twice as many hits in, so doing maybe 15% more damage isn't enough to make up for it.
I definitely rely on stairs to really get anywhere in SC or the difficult Mines.

That sounds like a great start, with Cinderclown, and 2 Crabshells, you're at 16 defense. Got any more defense from any other sources you're bringing forth typically?
How is your lethality looking, does it take a ton of hits to kill anything or do they go down pretty quick? What weapon(s) are you using or have you tried?
What enemies specifically are giving you trouble or overwhelming you? When do you feel like you're in danger vs what can you comfortably take on pretty reliably?

Anyway just wondering in case I can help, as long as you're having fun that's the important part, it's not like you need to be able to kill swarms of bad guys since as you indicated there are stairs and that's always an option.

Honestly, the best defence is always to not get hit at all. If you get hit more often because of slime debuff, and you want to eliminate that by stacking the slime charmer ring, that's a-okay.

I know this is really late but if you have no drink buffs active the energy thing from Harvey's clinic gets you back all your health and energy but it's costs 1000g
