I’m infatuated with Haley and I always marry her in my playthroughs!! Her superficial and shallow personality in the beginning is actually what drew me to her initially, cause I wanted to figure out why she was like this and I knew she must have had something deeper to offer. After getting to know her she’s super cute, sweet, and fun! Best girl ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

I see Maru did not get much love, whats wrong with Maru? I see people say they are reluctant to marry her because she will be stuck in a farm instead of going off and making great leaps in science, it ruins her potential. You rarely see any mods that change her sprites or give her more dialogue compared to the other datemates.

For me everyone else is just more interesting. Everyone has more growth/character development. I percieve her as a flat character.

i relate a lot to shane and the whole "don't talk to me" thing you get in the beginning of the friendship with him is peak tsundere which i'm not usually a fan of but his whole vibe was just a mood. >>"why are you talking to me? i don't know you." like, that's me whenever someone i don't know comes up to talk to me. his whole story line where he starts to go to therapy was also just really nice even if it feels like stuff doesn't change after that what with the suspicious cans in his part of the house and his "when i die sprinkle me across the farm" thing. he's like a more depressed april from parks and rec.

Leah was my first love, and I still currently adore her. I love her knack for creating and being mindful to the world around her -- just wanting to better the world in her own way and her life.

If SVE was an option here -- I would then say Sophia. She's a sweetheart, and reminds me that I'm not alone with the way I feel things, and the things I enjoy! (I know that probably sounds narcissistic -- but I really just think it's cool I share the same interests and such with her -- even if she is a game character).

Anyways... I know that's two choices -- but I'm really bad at picking just one. ​

Shane. I never really got a mean vibe from him, just blunt, exhausted and self-loathing, a bit rude but eh, didn't really offend me. Threw some forage at him so he might start saying something else and that 2-heart event just...I felt seen. The rest of the storyline until after 6-hearts is rough, but him finding some peace through animals melted me. He gives me the vibe of a dude that, if he's mentally healthy enough, can do just about anything he puts his mind to and doesn't think it's a big deal at all. I appreciate his dry/dark humor.

Abigail, Leah and Sebastian are my faves to marry, and I also love Penny, Maru, Sam, and Alex as friends. I was a little surprised at me liking Sebastian because at first, I didn’t have any interest. But his character really shares a lot in common with me as a person and, like Magic said, is someone I’d really get along with IRL. Leah, I share her insecurity about art and I like nature too. Abi, because she’s an adventurous rock-eater who likes video games.

Team Harvey and Krobus here. They are the best! Though honest to goodness I wish my IRL husband could live in SDV. (Though he is reluctant to try it on our switch cause it’s too much “work” in his precious little free time. I can understand. The grind can be grueling at times. It’s fun to me mostly but I see his side too. He has too much of that in his irl job. )

I third this. He’s doing the best he can. Depression (coming from someone who knows firsthand) is no joke, and he likely has Major Depressive Disorder which is chronic and quite disabling. He’s amazing for getting out of bed and going to work and holding down a full time job. Plus he actively attends therapy. He’s doing all he can. His struggle with alcohol is just poor self medicating, but in an area as isolated as Stardew that’s what tends to happen to the even the best and strongest of us when there isn’t the greatest expertise available, Dr. Harvey does his best but he’s a GP not a mental health specialist. But Shane is actively trying to cut down. It doesn’t help that the only restaurant or even hangout really is a saloon. There’s nowhere else to go and you can only see the one movie in town each season so much. It takes a loooooong time to find the right combination of medication and often years of therapy to start to recover. No one really likes or talks to him. He says he’s so surprised you will as his hearts go up. Pelican town really isn’t the best place for him to live but he says he had a terrible family living situation which im supposing is why he’s with his aunt for now. I have a suspicion he’s younger than he looks like under 25 maybe. Chronic mental or physical health issues tend to age people faster than normal appearance wise.
