Family

Old Man Tab

Planter
The first part

It would be nice if there was a mod where you need to spend more time with your family

Monday to Friday you work (you have to be at home at 17:00pm)

If you not at home at that time, your spouse will be upset at you for being late and he/she will let you sleep outside infront of the house

Saturday and Sunday you are off from work (you stay at home and spend time with your family only) (you can go to the shop only and thats it)

Because i was abit disappointed when i leave home and the child is all alone and then my spouse in the game will ask me if i played with my child

The second part

And depending on the spouse:

If you are married to Penny, then her mother (Pam) will visit you every weekend (in the day)
Or you could let Pam stay with you and Penny permanent (Pam will help take care of the kids while you and Penny are working Monday to Friday)(provided that there is a room for her)
The trailer will be removed and Pam will get a brand new room in your house

If you are married to Maru, then her parents (Demetrius and Robin) will visit you every night

If you are married to Abigail, then her parents (Pierre and Caroline) will visit you every night

Emily in not sure about

Haley im not sure about

Leah im not sure about

Im still trying to come up with ideas for those three mentioned above

If you have any questions, feel free to message me

Nice idea!

Monday to Friday you work (you have to be at home at 17:00pm)
If you not at home at that time, your spouse will be upset at you for being late and he/she will let you sleep outside infront of the house
at 5 pm sounds a bit early when you have a lot to do on the farm, especially every 1st of the season

Saturday and Sunday you are off from work (you stay at home and spend time with your family only) (you can go to the shop only and thats it)
Because i was abit disappointed when i leave home and the child is all alone and then my spouse in the game will ask me if i played with my child

That sounds nice.

If you are married to Maru, then her parents (Demetrius and Robin) will visit you every night

If you are married to Abigail, then her parents (Pierre and Caroline) will visit you every night
Parents visits sounds nice.

But every night???
Do you mean EACH day, in the evening?

Emily in not sure about
Haley im not sure about
The other sister could come for a visit from time to time.

Leah im not sure about
Maybe once a month a visit from all the girls from the Rock Rejuvenation (after finishing the quest)?

Edit: Leah isn't part of the Rock Rejuvenation... :flushed:
So either she becomes part or the visit is without connection to it.

So you want marriage to cut off near half of your available time in the day most days and ALL of your time 2 days of the week? I'm sorry, I couldn't read past that. That is Nucking Futs. I mean, okay, I get it: in the real world you have to have time for your family... but this is a farm simulator, not a life simulator. If you could track the results after something like this was added you'd see the number of folks getting married in their playthroughs plummet to near zero.

Okay... deep breath... now to go back and read the rest of what you said because that was really triggering.

Also, you clearly have not done the community upgrade at Robin's (or got your house maxed to even know it is a possibility). Pam shouldn't need a room at your house. Pam can have a whole damned house of her own whether you marry her daughter or not.

And who the hell visits their married children nightly? This goes for especially for parents that have more than one child. You forgot about Sebastian. They're just going to spend all their evenings with Maru and the farmer and make him feel even more neglected by his mother since her second marriage and the birth of his half-sister? And would they do the opposite if you marry Sebastian, suddenly start neglecting Maru?

And you didn't just forget about Sebastian. You forgot every male marriage candidate.

This just sounds like wanting to put too much of an idealized work-week into a simulator that in no way attempts to make an accurate simulation of real life. You want a brutal game that is hard to get ahead in, play Project Zomboid in Apocalypse mode. I play SDV for a fun, adorable farming simulator. I play PZ when I want my farm simulator to also try and kill me at every step of the way, like your spouse would in SDV if your ideas were implemented.

I don't mean this to be insulting... I just don't think you understand how much time a lot of things take in this game. People would get married and suddenly have their maximum of 140 hours of week to get things done cut to just 55 hours of time available to get things done without getting locked out thus losing a percentage of their income up to 1000g... and this is every night. That makes a brutal challenge run for the adventurous, but you want to force that on everyone playing the game when it has been running with nearly three times the available time to get things done for the game's years long history? Nobody would ever get married again unless they just wanted to punish themself, and this would be why... or they'd do it, but only late game, get what they wanted out of it, then instantly divorce.

Your reply is a bit harsh...

I think SDV is both: farm and life sim - and even more.

The suggested early end of farm business to have family time could be a problem for many players. On the other hand marriage is probably a late(r) game thing where one already has Junimo Huts or is close to have them. Also there could be some balancing mechanic like spend 1 afternoon/evening with the family and then having 5 days without upsetting ones spouse, or something alike.

Giving Pam a room at the players house could be an alternative to the Community Upgrade (in case you marry before the upgrade). Also some people dont like to live alone, so even after the upgrade Pam may like to live with her daughter. I like the idea (as an option!).

Regarding nightly visits you should consider that English is not the mother-language for everybody. So probably he means afternoon or evening visits...

(Grant-)Parents visits could be the same of course for Sebastian, Sam and Alex. For Shane it could be a visit of Marnie. So there are ideas left for Harvey and Elliott...
But I think everybody here got the idea Old Man Tab suggested.

You are right, of course, that these ideas are still very rough, but for that we can easily discuss and optimize them.... ;-)

Thank you Freizetfarmer

It would be nice if a idea like this could be made into a mod

But what do you think should we add more to the suggestion?

And you didnt insult me imnvs

It was just a suggestion i submitted

The only thing I would like to see is the children grow up into workable age.

Automate them to collect stuff from kegs and after a few years you can choose to fund their education in the city. After they leave they send back notes demanding money. If you don't pay them they return, and hang around getting in the way (like the pets). Only joking.

Children growing up is a good idea

Basically they can decide to work with you on the farm or they can choose to study at a university out of town

What do you suggest Gunther99?

Because you actually gave a suggestion regarding kids

It would be great but realistically I think it is beyond the scope of this game.

If children growing up appeals then the sims is the way to go.
