Issue Event script error: Event script error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Please help! :(

I first encountered this error with this new world when Marnie gave the pet. I ignored it (stupidly) and kept going, but now I can't stand it! I haven't been able to have a proper gameplay since. :'( Here is my SMAPI log:

Steps to reproduce I just enter any event and this error gets triggered.
Expected vs Actual results All events seem to stop working and I get that error instead.

First of all, update all the mods that SMAPI tells you about. You can find the list at the top of your log page.
