decorative trash can

so i was fishing in the fountain because i heard you can get some weird stuff. i got a decorative trash can right away. im wondering if this is useful for anything? like, do i just stick it somewhere on my farm and it’s supposed to look nice?

This was actually one of my favourite 1.5 features. I was so excited when I found out about them, I filled a whole room full! (and yes, I've downsized a bit since then)

edit: I fished one up, can't actually hit it though, it just picks it up. Are you sure it was a 'decorative trashcan' item and not a regular trash can in the town, which do give you items sometimes but can't be picked up?

Yeah I've never heard of any sort of mechanic regarding axing the decorative trash cans, nor though have I heard of getting three tuna (or items in general) from one trash can (and the interact button for the ones in town isn't the same as the action button for tools)

Same. Also the decorative trash cans are available unlimited from the furniture catalog, so that would basically be free items even if it was a small chance of getting something, unless there are two versions. Which wouldn't be completely unprecidented - one of the house plants in the catalog is also availble from the crane game, but the latter is a special version that cycles through the appearance of a bunch of other house plants.

edit: re multiple items in town trash cans, I did get 4 copper ore from Clint's on one day very recently. I can't recall any others though.

That's what I was thinking, I doubt something that egregiously manipulatable would be added in when pretty obvious

Sure but this one would have a special function attached to it and only it, which is a bit odd
