Chapter 1
Jotaro walked down the sterile, white halls of Frieza’s ship, the quiet hum of the engine the only sound filling his ears. His boots, designed for agility and impact, made no sound as he walked. He was headed to Frieza’s throne room, located in the direct center of the ship. Jotaro didn’t know why he was being summoned, nor did he need to know. He simply needed to do as he was told. He was a weapon, honed and perfected, and weapons had no need for curiosity, only precision.

The vast throne room was dim, lit only by the faint glow of control screens and the iridescent sheen of the planetary viewscreen that dominated the far wall. The air was thick with tension, often present when Frieza, A notorious warlord whose main goal was to wipe out or enslave the remaining Saiyans who survived the destruction of planet Vegeta, was in residence. He sat on his throne, his pale form regarding Jotaro with an unreadable expression, a slight, almost imperceptible smirk on his lips. His tail twitched slowly, as if he was a clock, keeping time.
Jotaro stopped precisely ten paces from the throne, his posture ramrod straight, eyes locked onto Frieza’s. “Lord Frieza,” he stated, his voice a low, even tone devoid of emotion or inflection.
“Jotaro,” Frieza’s voice, smooth as silk, sharp as a blade, cut through the silence. “You’re here, good.” He extended a finger and a holographic projection shimmered into being before them. It depicted a swirling, violet vortex, originating from a single point on a familiar blue-green sphere. Earth. Specifically, a detailed overlay highlighted the Kyoto region of Japan.
“My sensors have detected an anomaly” Frieza continued, his face and tone devoid of emotion. “A substantial energy spike, unlike any I've registered before. Its signature is primitive, yet potent. It is emanating from this location.” the hologram zoomed, pinpointing a cluster of ancient buildings nestled among lush, green forests-a traditional Japanese shrine. A small almost imperceptible figure, cloaked in a priestess outfit, stood at the heart of the projection.
Jotaro stood silently, absorbing the information. A shrine maiden who resided on Earth, in the Kyoto region of Japan. A being able to emanate an energy signature powerful enough to grab his master’s attention from light-years away.
“This unforeseen power could pose a threat to my future plans,” Frieza stated, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Or, at the very least, it is an unexpected variable that I do not tolerate. You will proceed to Earth, to the Kyoto region. You will trace the source of this energy, confirm its nature, and eradicate it." His final word hung in the air, a chilling command. "Eradicate the anomaly. Eradicate its source. Leave no trace."

"Understood, Lord Frieza," Jotaro replied, his voice a low, steady rumble. He gave a sharp nod, his eyes locking onto the holographic coordinates. There was no hesitation, no flicker of doubt. Frieza's will was his will. "Excellent," Frieza purred, leaning back on his throne, the purple light glinting off his armored form. "You are dismissed. See to it that this... nuisance... is dealt with swiftly. I have no patience for unforeseen delays." Jotaro turned, his slim frame moving with an uncharacteristic stealth. The biometric doors hissed open once more, and he stepped back into the sterile corridor. His mind immediately shifted to mission parameters. Destination: Earth. Target: An energy spike, a shrine maiden. Objective: Eradication.

Chapter 2

“I don’t see why we had to come here.” Vegeta said with a scowl as he, Bulma, and Goku walked up the steps to the Whispering Willows Shrine. His arms were crossed, his signature frown etched deeper onto his face. “This is a waste of perfectly good training time. What use is ‘Earth’s history to a Saiyan Prince?” Bulma sighed for the hundredth time. “Because Vegeta, you need to realize that there is more to life than power levels and fighting! Besides, it’ll be good for you and Goku to get out and see the world.” Vegeta grumbled something about Bulma being a ‘stubborn earth woman’ under his breath and continued forward, his shoulders hunched. Goku was already ahead, sitting on a tourou, or stone garden lantern, waiting patiently for Vegeta and Bulma to catch up. “This place is really something, Bulma,” Goku said, looking around at the surrounding woods, “I don’t think I’ve ever been this deep in any forest before!”
They walked for a few more miles, Bulma leading the way. By the time they arrived at the temple, the sun was beginning to set below the horizon, casting shades of deep purples, pinks, and oranges across the sky As they approached the entrance to the temple, a huge red tori gate stood in front of them, letting people know that what lay beyond it was sacred, spiritual ground. Bowing their heads in respect, the trio passed through, one at a time, giving a silent prayer to the Kami as they passed.
The outside of the temple was breathtaking. Gorgeous Sakura trees were planted around the grounds, Omikuji, Fortune-telling paper strips, tied onto their branches. Not far from the shrine’s main entrance were two buildings, the main shrine hall, which was closed for the night, and the offering hall, which appeared to still be open.
“We should find the head priestess,” Bulma said, looking around. She headed off in the direction of the offering hall, where an old woman was selling ofudas, talismans protecting from malicious spirits, and omamoris, pouches containing the buyer’s prayers and wishes. “Excuse me,” Bulma said as she walked up to the woman, Goku and Vegeta following close behind, “my friends and I are looking for the head priestess, would you happen to know where she is?” The woman gave a knowing smile and nodded. “You’re looking for Mei-Lynne. She’s probably in the gardens. She usually heads there to meditate once the sun starts to set” Bulma thanked the woman and motioned for the others to follow her. As they entered the garden, the sun finally setting over the horizon, it became harder to see in the darkness. The stone lanterns lit a path leading to the Shinboku, God tree, in the middle of the garden. There, a lone figure stood, gently pruning the leaves. She wore a white kosode robe with a scarlet hakama skirt. Her hair was glossy in a long ponytail, adorned with willow leaves. She turned to the group, setting the leaf clippers down on the ground by the trunk of the tree. She smiled warmly at them and stood from her position. “Welcome to the Whispering Willow shrine, travelers, how can I help you?”
“Thank you for your warm welcome, Mei-Lynne.” Bulma said, giving a bow of respect. “I’m Bulma. This is my husband, Vegeta, and my friend, Goku. We've come to your shrine to make a prayer of luck before these two go off on a mission.”
