Giving a bouquet to someone you're already dating or married to will result in you asking them out on a date. Not going on a date or seeing a movie with someone you're dating or married to once a season will result in loss of friendship. If you are married, but go on a date with someone else there is a chance that your spouse can find you, they lose 2 hearts of friendship. You can't go on a date with the same person twice in the same week. You cannot go on dates during festivals. These are the dates you can go on:
- Picnic
- Dinner at the Saloon
- Tour of your farm
- Boat trip
- Game in Zuzu city
- Hike in the woods
- Horseback ride
- Go to the bath house

Picnic: Similar to the Heart Event with Leah, you have a picnic in the woods. You provide the food, providing a liked or loved food will increase friendship. Unlocked by seeing Leah's heart event with the picnic.

Dinner at the Saloon: You order food and talk with your date. You pay for both meals. After eating you can choose to play 2-player Journey of the Prairie King with your date or you can just go home. How well you do at JotPK either positively or negatively affect friendship.

Tour of your farm: You walk around your farm and your date follows behind you. You can let your date pet your animals. You can play 2-player JotPK on the arcade machine on your farm if you have completed it in the saloon. If you have monsters activated on your farm you will have to fend them off.

Boat Trip: Willy takes you out on his boat and you two can fish or look out at the ocean. You have to pay Willy. You must have Willy at 5 hearts to unlock this option and will get a letter in the mail from Willy notifying you that you can.

Game in Zuzu City: Similar to Shane's heart event. You must see Shane's heart event to unlock this as an option. After seeing his heart event you will get a letter from Pam saying that the Bus to Zuzu City now works. You and your date go watch a game and you can buy them a snack, similar to the movies. Costs $500 for the bus ride.

Hike in the Woods: Go on a relaxing hike in the woods. Walk through the woods. If the secret woods are unlocked you can go in there but you have to fend off enemies.

Horseback Ride: You can ride on your horse together. Unlocked when you get the stable.

Go to the Bath House: You go to the Bath House and relax together. You can play Marco Polo, where you have to run away from your date.

Hi! I am new to the Valley and I found this post. I know it is a bit old and I understand if you don't reply but I was started dating this season and so do I have to wait till next season? Whenever I go up and give a bouquet it says we are already dating?

This is kind of how it works in My Time at Portia.

Funny thing about that game is it felt like it had no soul, for lack of a better word. Story is reasonably interesting, though progression is notably more linear than SDV. But MTaP felt like it was made by a committee whereas SDV is well-known to be made by a single Ape. That single source may account for some of the heart that SDV has which is missing from MTaP, but IMO there is a second thing:

The low-poly, caricatured, 3D full motion environment in MTaP steals your imagination from you. It's didactic, what you see is exactly what you get and the movement and character art in the game needed about 10x the amount of variety and detail that was included.

Whereas the 2D sprite and avatar style of SDV encourages you, even requires you, to use your imagination to fill in those spaces. And we all know that our imaginations are not only powerful, but also personal, so we can fill in the details which are most special to each one of us.

I want to see this for the console versions. It sucks so much that all the PC players have these amazing mods and us console players are basically left behind. TBH, I actually prefer playing SDV on a console than the PC because the game feels so comfy and cozy. I love playing it most in bed, before I fall asleep. It's a lovely way to unwind and settle in before going to bed.
