Coding Help custom minerals in the wild??

hi i can't seem to find how the game codes minerals physically spawning in the mines or somewhere that can drop them (nodes/barrels/crates/etc). like quartz for example. you can find it just lying on the ground and pick it up. or it can be dropped by a barrel breaking. i need my custom gems to do this exact thing but i genuinely cannot find any info on the matter neither in the game nor on the wiki. please help.

i managed to make my gems drop from clint breaking geodes but that's all i could do to make them obtainable and i don't like it frankly
