Crystalarium should return gem when inserting another (bug?)

If you use an axe/hoe in a crystalarium, you will receive the crystalarium and the gem. However, if you insert a different gem, you wont get the first one back

But maybe it's a bug in another way so one shouldn't get the gem back using an axe!? I am not sure but i think one doesn't get a fruit back when using an axe with a keg.

No, that was one of the quality of life changes in the 1.5 release:

Improved various items:

• Removing a crystalarium that isn't ready for harvest will now drop the gem that was placed in it.
