Xbox Crane Game Movement

I'm unable to get the crane game to move any direction other than right, I've tried every button and both joysticks. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

You first move it to the right, and after you stop it you move it down. There is no free movement in the machine. It’ll grab when you stop it the second time.

I’m not sure what the correct buttons are on Xbox, but on pc it’s just right arrow and down arrow.

That's what I thought at first but doing this I'm unable to access any of the prizes on the large conveyor, only the square conveyor or the trees. Is that intentional? Thanks for your help, this is my first playthrough of Stardew.

You have to push the down button until you see the shadow on the large conveyor, it’ll go past the trees on top. It’s a bit fiddly because as soon as you let go, it will drop. If you only get the trees on top, you’re probably not doing the down motion correctly. Hopefully someone who plays on Xbox can tell you how exactly it works.
