Crafting special gifts for spouses?

I liked Emily's 14-heart event gift and was thinking that being able to craft special gifts unique to your spouse would be cool. Maybe have it as something related to their hobbies or what they like? E.g. a mannequin or new sewing machine for Emily, art supplies for Leah, a new camera for Haley, etc.

What if, when you make that special item, you can progress to another set of 2 hearts with your spouse and have another heart event when you reach 16.
