There have been similar threads before so you could look for those. Found two:

Seen Slime Rancher getting recommended, didn't like it that much, but it was a nice game to try; I'll probably give it a second chance later.
That's the only one I can say anything about. Can't think of any personal recommendations.
okie thank you !!!! I looked to see if there was a thread already but I must not have looked hard enough lol

What exactly is it that makes a game cozy to you? It's sort of a broad term since it mostly goes off vibes, so it can be helpful to have certain themes or gameplay mechanics in mind.

hm that's a good question!!! maybe pretty places to explore, fun characters to talk to, that sort of thing? bonus if its a fantasy type setting :>
You might like Sun Haven; it's sort of like if you mixed SDV with DnD. It's had some controversy surrounding the devs, but it was at least partly because of a lack of game credits and they added some recently. If the game looks interesting to you just make sure you do some research before buying so you don't feel scammed. (I didn't find out about everything until after I played the game a bunch... It didn't ruin it for me, but was still disappointing.)

Cattails doesn't have the funnest map to explore, but there are still some neat places. It has a good number of fun characters to talk to as well (they are ALL cats). There's also a second game called Cattails: Wildwood Story, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

I don't think Undertale is usually thought of as a cozy game (probably because of the neutral and genocide routes), but if you haven't played it yet you should consider it! I'm not that far in, but the world and characters have all been fun and interesting so far.

There's also My Time at Portia. I found progression a bit confusing/difficult, but that might just be a me problem... Besides that it's pretty fun. You can tame a cat (and later also a dog).

That's all I can really think of right now, but there's a good chance I'll find or remember more later.... Do you have any opinions on metroidvanias with occasionally difficult boss fights and puzzle solving?

Graveyard Keeper. If you can deal with the dead bodies that is. It's fairly chill and you can go at your own pace. It's quite satisfying fixing up the graveyard. Fishing is easier with a dose of fish nuggets. You can make a garden and you don't need to water it but it's more difficult to make money as it has supply and demand based economics.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. After like 800 hours in Stardew, I started chasing that same "just one more day" feeling in other games and honestly, My Time at Portia really scratched the itch for me—it's jankier, but the crafting loop is addictive and the world feels lived-in. Coral Island is the obvious one too, though I'd wait for a few more patches if you're on console. What surprised me most was Graveyard Keeper; it's darker and more about automation than farming, but the progression systems hooked me in that same weird way. If you want something more chill and exploration-based, I'd also toss out Littlewood or even Roots of Pacha if you're okay with pixel art and prehistoric vibes — and I remember checking https://skycoach.gg/ when I was curious about Palia's mechanics, they have some straightforward breakdowns that helped me understand what I was getting into before installing. Anyway, hope you find your next obsession!

A game that I really enjoy is Fields of Mistria! It's still in early access but the full release is on August 5th this year! It is very similar to Stardew Valley and it is just as cozy.
I saw lummi play it and the entire time she was like, "Oh you are so cute!" to someone and then the next person she was like, "F the other person March is adorable!"

Fields of Mistria and Story of Seasons are pretty close to Stardew Valley. A few other cozies I like are Cinnbunny (so adorable, you play as a bunny that is a baker in a village) and Tiny Bookshop.

You could try one of the later Rune Factory games. I think they're closer to SDV than the Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons games are, if only because there's monster fighting there. Monsters in RF can also be tamed, and some of them act as farm animals when tamed while others help with the farming.
