Switch Co-Op causing multiple issues after update

During co-op on occasion if one player goes to the mines it will eventually cause the game to start bugging on one side of the co-op screen (primarily the first player screen only) and duplicating (in image only) resources, enemies, rocks, etc. after breaking/attacking them, that then get frozen in game. I cannot pick up the items and they remain on the screen and if you don’t leave the mines quickly, it can cause the entire game to crash.

It temporarily can (not every timefix it by exiting and entering the mines but it will eventually still crash the game.

Also overall general lag whenever playing the game, which I’ve come accustom to, since I solely play co-op on the switch, but it has gotten much worse after updating.

Version 1.6.9.37 playing local co-op/split screen on the same switch both using standard wireless Nintendo Joy-cons. Problem occurs in both handheld mode and in a tv stand.

Exactly the same thing is happening to us all the time. Either it crashes right away after the graphic bug appears in the mine, or it will crash sometime later after you visited the mine.
Most of the times, the crash happens after sleeping. Luckily it is saved by the ...

My partner I are experiencing this in co-op on the switch as well. It is not limited to the mines it seems to be any area that is considered underground including the cave where you receive the golden scythe as well as the skull caverns. It's really hard to try and find a way down and see iridium or a calico eggs and other great items from breaking rocks looking for ways down to hopefully have the bug reset, that you are unable to pick up. Having it happen on multiple floors is maddening.

We're experiencing the exact same issue. We bought the game specifically to play co-op on split screen, but we experience crashes every time we play. Often after we visit the mine, but also during other big days like when there's a fair or something (yesterday we scored so many tickets by fishing and shooting at the fair, only for the game to crash before it was saved!). Sometimes there are also crashes without seemingly big things going on. There are no error reports on the Switch, it just closes the game and tells us it was due to a software error.

The same issue seems to be reported in this thread as well as this one.

We're on v1.6.9 build 9, with no mods whatsoever and basic joy-cons.

We've only bought the game recently, so I can't comment on the lag getting worse. I can however say that it's quite noticeable: often the game stalls for a second or two, which is especially frustrating while you're fishing.

It's often a crash that takes away our fun in playing and makes us put down the game. Hopefully there'll be a patch soon! Let us know if there's any more info we can share that'll help.

Just replying to say experiencing the same issue on Switch split-screen mode:
- Frequent lag when screen freezes for a time, particularly bad when fishing
- go down enough levels of mine or skull cavern and you will quickly experience a level where enemies are frozen, when you destroy a rock it doesn't drop loot, animations don't disappear etc. Feels like a memory leak type issue.

It makes skull cavern unplayable so is quite an urgent issue

Argh! We lost another long day of progress yesterday evening, cutting short out gaming session. We'll be putting away the game for now, as it stands it's unplayable for us. Hoping for a patch soon!

New reports of this issue keep coming in, and I can confirm that the latest update on the Switch (no patch notes available?) did nothing to alleviate the issue. The game is still unplayable for us. Any word from CA? I can't find patch notes for the latest Switch update.
