Switch Chronic Drought

Is anyone having a trouble with rain/storms just not generating? I am in summer year 2 and I think I have had about 3 natural rain days, fall was entirely rain free until I used a rain totem on 27th 😭
Main problem I can’t make batteries! I am usually halfway through ginger island by now but I haven’t even fixed the boat because of it! I haven’t unlocked the solar panel yet but any tips on making batteries is helpful!

update: went through summer yr 2 without a storm, huge reluctance but I had to abandon the game there was just no way to keep going, first day on a new farm hurts the soul!!

Huh, no idea what's causing the problem, but for battery packs try slaying the iridium bats in skull cavern. They have a 5% chance to drop one. I'm pretty sure you can't unlock solar panels without ginger island cuz you need to complete the island ingredients quest for the recipe

I'm pretty sure that the main problem is that you got a seed that's really stingy with rain when you started your game. Nonak's tip seems like the best workaround.

Seems I got the unluckiest!! Year 2 is too late to mulligan and knowing my luck I’d pull the same problem 😂😂
I hope your drought ends at some point. There are seed numbers mentioned here and there on the forums, but unfortunately the seeds work a bit differently on the Switch and Xbox than they do on PC or mobiles, so you can't expect them to work.
I don't think year 2 is too late to start a new save and see how it compares. I once put aside a save that was in year 4 and started over, then deleted the old save when I found I did better in the new save. But to each their own way of playing. If it took you several weeks of playing to get to where you currently are, then I really understand why you don't want to start over.

I'm very close to year 2 as well and I definitely agree that I will NOT abandon my save file for rain. After you pass the first year your farm truly becomes your own.
