Switch [BUG] Sand Dragon won’t accept his final meal

I’m in Calico Desert and attempting to give the Sand Dragon a piece of Solar Essence, but he won’t accept it. I’ve tried all angles around the skull, and have tried both the Y (use tool) button and the A (check) button. I’ve also tried “checking” the dragon with a tool in my hand, and then switching to the solar essence to try to give it to him. Whenever I try to give the dragon the solar essence, it just gives me a repeat of the “maw” riddle.

GOT IT. You have to get the Mr Qi quest telling you to do it first.

I am on the stage of the Mysterious Qi quest line to feed the dragon but the skull will not accept the solar essence. No matter the angle or attempts, I even reset the day to try again, nothing. I am also just getting the maw riddle quite.

You need to put a battery in the box in the tunnel and then do everything Qi says. Sand dragon is the last step.

I have received the quest, and Qi says to feed the dragon his last meal, but when I try he won't accept the solar essence, from any angle. I'm trying to give it during winter, but not on any festival days, or days when I've completed a different quest. What's happening here?
