So I was doing the quest and got curious of whether I could put in rings in for the quest. So, as any curious person does, I put in one called the Slime Charmer Ring and it doesn't go from my inventory, but it goes into Qi's box. Basically, it's an endless ring generator because I can't get it out of the box, but it's giving me the ring anyway, filling up my inventory. I can sell these rings and use them to make double rings.
Short version: Putting rings in Qi's collection box on Ginger Island creates an endless ring generator, you can't remove it from the box.
