Best weapons for skull cavern?

I unlocked Skull Caverns and yeah I can kick the teeth in of the serpents and such. BUT I deal moderate damage it's obnoxious. What rings should I buy from the adventurer guild? Any rings that are worth unlocking from the monster eradication goals? Is the Lava Katana really worth the 25k? What's the best food I can get without having to farm too much? I hate planning way too much so any tips for that?

You NEED a better sword for Skull Caverns, full stop. You probably have the Obsidian Edge you got from a chest in the lower Mine levels but the Lava Katana is your best bet until you spend your first Prismatic Shard getting the Galaxy Sword. More damage makes all the difference to make the Caverns manageable.

Food is opinion but IMO the best mostly passive food is Cheese because with an AutoGrabber you get the Milk with no effort and all you need to do is put that in a CheezMaker and you have your food. If you need a lot of food immediately and can pay, a lot of people like Salads you can buy in bulk from Gus.

Rings are also a lot of opinion. For me the best rings for peace of mind in SC are:

Slime Charmer - just ignore slimes, they're effectively not even there
Iridium Band - mix of good QOL effects

Later on when you can knock Rings together, mixing those with Lucky Ring and other different ones can make fun combinations. One thing not to overlook is Luck when going to Skull Caverns. Go on Lucky Days and take any Luck Buffs you have, like Spicy Eel and later on, Ginger Ale. These get you increased Ore spawns and most importantly:

Treasure Rooms!

You gotta have some fun in there!

I have the Steel Falchion rn but i think I can afford the Lava Katana pretty soon. Iridium Band is impossible since I don't have iridium lmfaoo and Slime Charmer is freaking WORK. I hate checking luck but I guess I gotta buy a plasma TV and suck it up.

Imo the best healing food option is to use high quality mushrooms from mushroom logs
Otherwise i agree with Lew
For buffs its crab cakes/spicy eel (last can be traded for with rubies) and triple shot espresso. Normal coffee works, its just less convenient to drink it often.

I usually buy none, the best ones you unlock from monster eradication goals. Slime charmer is good, you not only stop taking damage, you also don't get the debuff. Absolutely worth it. Savage ring is also good (extra speed is always great) but not as much.

I'm only like three monsters away from getting the Savage ring so that's obtainable. Slime Charmer is so daunting tho lol.

You can also stack two glowstone rings. The double magnetism allows you to run around more freely while still collecting things. I personally do savage ring, but mostly because I like to keep it on for the secret woods and iron farming.

For food for healing, sashimi can also be a good option.

In my opinion, the steel falchion is good enough. Bringing a ton of bombs for getting deeper is more important. 100 explosive ammo and 50 bombs could be a starting point, but you can definitely bring more.

If you want to get a bit more used to the Skull cavern without a deep dive, you can start by resetting floor one. This can be a good way to find gems, although you probably won't find a lot of iridium ore that way.

Bombs eat up my iron ore supply SO MUCH. I have to grind for coal tho but that shouldn't be too hard to get enough for fifty bombs. Reseting floor 1 is what I'm doing to get familiar and well yeah I say I'm getting decent at bashing the serpents.

This one is good, yes, and Lava Katana is even better as Lew Zealand already said. I totally agree.

Try to find Quarz, the desert Trader gives you bombs in change. Or Megabombs, if you have enough Iridium.

Once you reach Mining Level 9 you'll get the recipe for the Crystalarium which will allow you to duplicate Quartz (about 2-3 times a day) which you can trade 5 for 1 Bomb at the Desert Trader. You'll eventually get all your Bombs this way but it does take time.

You'll also eventually get enough Iridium to make many Crystalariums which you can use to duplicate Jade to trade to the Desert Trader for Stairs so you can skip difficult Levels in Skull Cavern. But that's looking down the road a bit.

Right but I need iridium bars for that which I don't have :cry::cry:

It's all about what you like to do best. You like Crystal pathways best so prioritize those and the Iridium will have to wait. When you're done with your pathing plan, use those Quartz for Bombs because those will allow you to get Iridium more quickly by either uncovering ladders down in Skull Cavern or simply bombing high ore concentrations to clear them out faster.

I think the best weapon is probably the Lava Katana if you don't have the Galaxy Sword. Otherwise, good food for me is always Spice Eels and if you're broke blackberries are pretty good, otherwise just get salads. For rings, a Ruby ring might be good if you want more damage, but an iridium band would be even better. The other ring slot can be for anything really, but Slime Charmer ring or Burglar ring are my favorite options. ummmmm..... if you're still struggling just trade jades.
