Hi, I currently have a multiplayer farm with a friend in which we are running SVE. I wanted to run another farm with mods other than SVE. I currently launch my modded game through the SMAPI launcher in the local files. I have downloaded all my mods through nexus and have them organized using their vortex mod manager. Will disabling SVE while i run the second farm mess up the first farm in any way? What is the most sound way of organizing mods to avoid any issues with two farms running different mods? Thank you!
There are two ways I've found to do so:
1: What some people do is sort their mods into subfolders inside the Mods folder. SMAPI checks all subfolders, so adding a folder layer doesn’t hurt anything. So, leave mods everything uses (eg, Content Patcher) in the main folder, but put SVE in a subfolder named something like “Co-op play” and the things you want to try solo in one named “Solo play”. Then put a period in front of the file name of the one you are NOT currently using (So, “ .Co-op play” ). This causes SMAPI to ignore it. When you want to switch back, remove the period from the one folder from one, and add it to the other. (You may need to change your settings to “show hidden files” to see the one with the period in front, but it IS still there.)
So, relatively simple to handle, but requires you to open the folder and remember to switch before you run SMAPI.
2: There’s a mod called Stardrop that's designed to sort and update your mods for you, and lets you create separate mod profiles with different mods and configs. A lot of people swear by it, but there’s enough puzzled comments in the discussion posts that I wonder if it’s as idiot-proof as it’s supposed to be. There are other mod managers if you look, but I haven't seen another one that is both current and popular.
An open-source, cross-platform mod manager for Stardew Valley. Includes mod profiles, update checking, SMAPI integration and Nexus Mods API support!

(There's a third way, too, which is to have two completely different instances of Stardew Valley with their own versions of SMAPI and their own whole mod lists in completely different folders running different mods -- it's more idiot proof in loading as you can't open the wrong one by accident, but unless you're doing something like still running a game in 1.5 AND a game in 1.6 -- like I am -- it's a bit too much. And only one can be linked to Steam, if you care about that.)
