Switch Bait and tackle not attaching to rods

Hey!

Version 1.6 Switch
Issue has occurred for a few months now.

I’ve followed the guide on how to attach bait/tackle/bobbers to fishing rods, but they just swap in the inventory instead of attaching.

For the past two in-game days I’ve been fishing for quests and to complete the town centre, but I have caught nothing but trash. Please see attached a photo including all trash collected in these two days (see chest and inventory).

I’m frustrated and feeling defeated. I am aware of other people experiencing this bug via posts on the r/stardewvalley subreddit.

That looks like a training rod and a bamboo pole. You need a fibreglass rod to attach bait and an iridium rod to attach tackle (and bait).

with which rod were you fishing when you got only trash? Where were you? What season is it and what’s your level?
