Android Android fishing meter instantly bottoming out

Hi! Some of the time (maybe 1 fish in 3), when I'm fishing on the android version of the game, the fishing meter is going along just fine until it mysteriously, instantly, hits bottom. No animation of it falling, just the fish gets away.

I've been playing most days recently and only today, 1/6/25, has this happened. It first occurred in the fishing game at the Stardew Valley Fair. My fishing level was ten then, and I'm the day or so since in game, I got the advanced iridium rod. After that, fishing at the ocean, the same mysterious escapes that started at the fair have continued.

Running version 1.6.15 build 24354. Don't know of a way to upload my save file, or I would.

What kind of bait are you using?

So in the fishing game, no bait/not my rod, but my iridium rod had deluxe bait equipped.

After that I think I did use that rod like that a bit but can't swear the issue repeated - for one or two casts, say, so it wouldn't have necessarily, even if the problem remained at the same frequency.

As soon as it became available to me, pretty much, I equipped challenge bait on my fancy new and improved iridium rod. It definitely continued then.

on switch when you press b it bottoms out so maybe on android there's a button or something that you're accidentally hitting??

If it’s challenge bait, I think that is supposed to happen as soon as the fish leaves the bar the third time.

I'll see if it persists when I unequip, but I know it started before I even had access.
