An Option for the Game Time

There is a method for making the days last longer without any mods, so it's totally cross-platform.

Take it easy
Plant less
Plan a thing, not 5 things
Prioritize something interesting and put off the rest
Leave lots of time for surprises
Enjoy the process

You can't do everything. So that means you must do fewer things to fit them into a day. Maximizing how many things you think you can do in a day can be stressful and is a completely arbitrary number. You could choose more and stress out worse but that would be self-defeating, right?

So do the opposite, choose to do less and it will be self-affirming. The game will take longer. I am of the strong opinion that that's the point of this game. Winning in this game is playing it, so let that take as long as it needs and not a second shorter.

When you see that first cutscene, you're already won as you have the whole wonderful right there waiting for you and the longer you can make that experience last, the better.

Yeah I really have a problem with this, whats the point of farming a bunch of stairs, planning on going to the desert mines with my friends, just to arrive, use all the stairs and when we finally reach a good level to farm iridum/etc we only have 1/3 of the day left? Multiplayer already doesn't have that slow time passing on the desert mines, if the time doesnt stop when we are at the stairs, its a huge waste of time

I created an account here just to comment how desperately badly I want this.

I just got the game for the first time on Switch, so no mods- I love it so far,but the days being so incredibly short really are beginning to feel stressful. It does feel like I’m trying to speed run things like another user said, even if I’m just running around to the Blacksmith’s and trying to visit one friend for the day.

An option for toggling time speed would be a lifesaver.
For those that disagree this should be a feature because it defeats the “point” of the game etc, you wouldn’t have to use it. It would be beneficial to many.

I hope this thread isn't too old to reply to, but I searched this up just to see if anyone else agreed with me that Stardew would be MUCH more fun with a longer day! I honestly don't see what the game has to lose with having the timer be a choice. It's known that CA supports modding, so why not give console/mobile players the option to play with more fun/less stress too?

And to all the advice about just playing slower... Sadly doing that just makes the game grindy and a little boring to me. For example I ended up stressing out about packing as much as I could in a day so that I could FINALLY afford to not have to water my crops one by one, which I got tired of after a while. I feel like I'm consistently stressing myself out just to make the timer less of an annoying interruption. I guess it comes down to the fact that I'm not really a "gamer" more so than I like my games to take me out of the bland grind and limited time of the real world. So I'm subconsciously trying to force that onto Stardew...
