Issue Added Mods and now the game won't open.

I purchased the game through Steam many moons ago and played quite a bit (there and other platforms). I decided today to start into it again but with mods. I found some on the Nexus (?) and followed the instructions (I thought). When I try to launch the game I get an error window that looks like old school c:/ language... I deleted everything in that folder and then used ModDrop to try again. Same problem.

The top of the box says "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe

It says error resolving assembly: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\
common\Stardew Valley\smapi-internal'

And a lot of other stuff, roughly 15 lines worth. then it says "Game has ended. Press any key to exit.

I have uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled and nothing works to even get the base game to play. Any tips?

Not trying to be a stickler for rules but if you have mod related issues you should post in the mods help section of the forms, this is for the vanilla game only

Hi! I've moved this thread to the Mod Support section.

If you've changed your Steam launch settings to launch SMAPI, and then uninstalled SMAPI, the game's not going to launch. You can solve this by resetting your Steam launch options, or by reinstalling SMAPI from https://smapi.io/.

I will note that people can help you get the mods you want to play with set up and working, if you've reinstalled SMAPI and have issues still, you can share a log (https://smapi.io/log) which will give a better idea of your exact issue.
