Ability to change pets

I've been playing Stardew Valley for a long time now on the same file and originally chose to have a Cat. Now I'm regretting the decision and would like to have a Dog instead. Theres no way to change that and I don't want to restart the game just so I can have a dog. I'm aware that theres a way to change your pet breed in the wizard tower but not the pet type. It would be nice if that could be implemented there. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has this problem.

Yes, I know that you can change the pet appearance but my suggestion is that you have the ability to change pets from a cat to a dog or a dog to a cat.
