1.6 New Game

I wanted to go on here to ask what sort of things I should look out for in my new save for Stardew Valley 1.6... so far, I have noticed the pot of gold next to the waterfall and the book shop. Is there anything I should be looking out for in particular early on in this save file? No major spoilers please, just tips like "if you visit x at x time, you'll find something cool". I hope that makes sense ha! Also what the heck is up with blue grass?!

Blue grass is more liked by animals and boosts their friendship more.

Look for a new kind of artifact spot. Mystery boxes.

Things to look forward to: fishing derbies, the desert festival, the green rain... I won't give further detail for any of these things than their names, as they're better experienced than described. And apparently further along there are, let's say, some new vendors.

This is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for!! Thank you - just stuff to look out for. At the moment the game looks pretty much like the old but I don’t wanna miss anything like the stuff I remember missing the first time I ever played in the early stages… excite!!!

Lot's of the 1.6 stuff is integrated well into the game or just pops up sporadically like random drops and new events, you'll honestly notice basically everything if you just keep your eye out for a few announcement prompts (like for the train)

I'd definitely recommend getting a calendar and watching the TV every day too as they'll give you hints and some knowledge ahead of time

what s everyone using moss for? I found a couple reddit pages for it but I wonder if there's anything I am missing? Also, were we always able to make quality mayo from the machine?! I have noticed that if I put large / quality eggs in the mayo maker, a gold star product is popping out... or am I going crazy and this has always been a thing?

i think the mayo thing has always been around, i'm not entirely sure but i do know that the cheese maker always did that.

moss is a resource, so far the only uses i've found for it are moss soup, the random blessing statue, and one other thing i forgot :P

Most of my moss ends up as deluxe bait, but there are a couple of other recipes that use moss. The statue of blessings uses quite a lot.

The quality of chicken eggs doesn’t matter, you get normal mayo from small ones and gold star mayo from large ones. For ostrich eggs, mayo is the same quality as the egg. It’s always been like that as far as I can tell.
