Switch 1.6 hallway wallpaper not working

i can't put wallpaper on the little space between the kitchen and dining room?
i play singleplayer on switch and can't figure out how to upload my save file or find my version number like it says i should in the guide, but the wall is very ugly so here i am. my bad, this is my first time on a forum so. i don't know what's going on.
my brother said he's having problems with wallpaper too. worth noting the wallpaper in other halls also will not change although i already have the ones i want there. big rooms work fine

You need to a few more spaces north of where you are standing in your picture, where my character is to change the wallpaper in hallways.
