Does anyone know what this is? Maru says she doesnt know what it is but she likes tinkering. It appeared right after the Alien capsule opened.

Looks like I have to report a bug, after all these years of great play. I can't chop up the hidden log that blocks the entrance to the Secret Woods. I upgraded to steel axe and I was told I had to upgrade my axe. So I kept fighting monsters until I finally had a gold axe. Now it's still telling...
