item deletion

I’m playing on the steam deck. New game, updated, day 12 and I went to drop off an artifact with Gunther but it was gone. I don’t know if it was there when I woke up on day 12 or if it went missing when I upgraded my backpack to the 24 slot.

Hi. When playing with my friend, his items are randomly disappearing. He's lost his pickaxe, swords, and other items. He has not passed out in the mines (I know players can lose items this way). He also just lost a sword when talking to a villager. How do I fix this?
