Switch Joycons constantly disconnect

For a very long time now, before the switch 2 even came out I will be playing Stardew Valley on my switch in handheld mode & the controllers will come up with the screen to press L + R on the controllers you would like to use. At first I thought maybe it was my switch OLED & there was an issue with the joycons until I realised it wasn’t happening with any other game. I now have the switch 2 with the switch 2 version of the game installed & same issue. It wasn’t happening as much a few months ago but just started another game & it is almost unplayable because every few mins if that I get the same pop up screen.

I have searched for answers but it seems no one else has had the same issue. I have updated my joycons, unpaired & repaired them, turned off mouse controls & nothing has fixed the issue. I am using Ver. 1.6.15.13

I just wanted to say that this is not just you. I still have this problem on the Switch 2 and have had for months. At first I thought I had a hardware problem, but Stardew Valley is the only game that does it. I am playing and suddenly the controller pairing screen just pops up as if I have chosen a multiplayer menu option in the game and it wants me to connect a second controller. I did not have the problem on the Switch OLED, but it is possible there was an update that caused it and I didn't play on the OLED between that update and the Switch 2 coming out. I played a lot on the Switch Lite in between and it probably wouldn't do this due to having controllers that don't disconnect.

When the connection screen shows up it already shows them as connected, so all I have to do is press L and R to reassign myself to player 1 (although this is when playing single player).
