Have you completed the Danger in the Mines quest on the Qi board? Have you waited a day after that?

Have you tried veryfying file integrity on Steam? Might help.

thank you for your replies. i am beginning to wonder if i did do the qi quest. i wish there was a way to find out for sure.

I think there are 2 ways to check, both of which require opening your save file in a text editor (like notepad).
First, see if you can find the text <string>QiChallenge9</string>, which should be nested between <completedSpecialOrders> and </completedSpecialOrders>.
If that is there, it means you have completed the quest. If it is not it means you have not completed the quest.

However, what is actually checked for is <string>reachedBottomOfHardMines</string> between <mailReceived> and </mailReceived>.

You should see both if you have completed the quest. If you see neither, it means you haven't completed the quest.
If you find one and not the other it means something is bugged.
