Green Rain

  • Green rain occurs randomly once each Summer, only possible on the following dates: 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 18, 23.
  • A translucent green visual effect is visible even when indoors.
  • Green Rain Trees and weeds spawn in large quantities throughout the entire valley (except on the Beach and in the Calico Desert).
    • Trees outdoors are affected by Green Rain as follows:[4]
      • Every tree sapling of stage 1 (seed) has a 50% chance to grow to stage 4. All tree saplings of stage 2 or 3 will grow to stage 4. After these two steps, all tree saplings of stage 4 will grow as if they had gone through 3 nights.
      • Every fully grown tree has a 50% chance of getting covered in moss.
      • Every fully grown Oak Tree or Maple Tree has a 75% chance to turn into Temporary Green Rain Trees for the duration of Green Rain.
    • Most Green Rain Trees that are not on the farm, whether spawned or transformed, will revert back into their original form on the next day. Some Green Rain Trees will remain. Green Rain Trees in Pelican Town will be removed.
    • Weeds spawned by green rain do so non-destructively and disappear the next day.
    • Temporary Green Rain Trees on the farm have a chance to spread, meaning the next day you can find stage 1 green rain trees, harvestable for a mossy seed, next to trees that have reverted to their original types.
    • Large Green rain weeds yield 15 Foraging xp each when destroyed.
  • Certain electronic devices are inoperable during the event.
  • In the first year, most villagers will stay indoors all day, except for Demetrius, Leah, and Linus.
    • Buildings accessible by the player can be entered at any time of day, regardless of their usual hours, and some bedrooms will be accessible without heart requirements.
    • Players cannot give gifts to villagers during Green Rain in Year 1.
  • At the end of the day, the shipping summary screen displays a sky with green fog and dark gray storm clouds.

Didn't know it came only on summers. Maybe that's why I never get it because I don't play until summer on a single save lol.

It's somewhat stressful, but I find the Danger in the Mine quest more stressful with little time to do much beyond taking care of the animals before having to hit the mines if I want to reach the bottom without having to use a bunch of staircases. I think the Qi fruit quest is a rather easy way of getting a bunch of gems, though I get why it seems daunting.

With 21 days to do it as I took it a week into the month, and 4 seed makers, I ended up shipping over 600 Qi fruits when I just needed 500, finishing the quest on the 27th of Spring (and thus making those that were still growing vanish). I ship in minor batches after I've got about 10 iridium sprinkler's worth growing and have enough seeds to replant a bit more than what will mature the next day. And I had time to take care of all the other chores around the farm. The last few days were a bit annoying, as I kept getting Qi beans even though there wasn't enough time to grow them. It can easily be completed and still do stuff like Qi's Cuisine, or Qi's Kindness while waiting for the crops to grow. Admittedly, I didn't do that. Instead I took the time to go to the Egg Festival, the Flower Dance, and all 3 days of the Desert Festival.

I'll also admit that this quest almost made me forget to take a rainy day off to go fish for the Legend, but I remembered just in time and went on what proved to be the last rainy day of the month.

Maybe that's the point, I'll always do it with staircases, since you don't get an annoying comment this time 😎 Later on I take my time with it, just for the resources and the funny noise the jumping spiders make when you kill them..
It's OK when you're fine with growing the beans, I better choose the Quests with more effort for me than just gems 😏

I mostly want about 300-400 gems to buy what I want/need from the shop, recipes and a few other things. After that I just check occasionally to see if the Extended Family is one of the quest options and ignore the rest. I also want at least one Danger in the Deep quest, and one Skull Cavern Invasion, to unlock the dangerous version of those.

I'm a couple of days into Summer of year 3 on this save, so right now, a big stash of gems is a really good reward, giving me nearly a third of what I need.

That's the one thing I like about the Qi quests - you can pick and choose which ones to do. I specifically take staircases to unlock the dangerous mines so that I can later use them as my personal hunting grounds. I start a chest of junk for the prismatic grange before I unlock the island. The wheat I grow to get extra hay is turned into flour for the cooking challenge. Meanwhile, I took the extended family quest exactly once before remembering how much I hated fishing.

Realized I had enough iridium bars, so I went and bought the remaining 3 obelisks in one go. Due to Summer starting I haven't had time to do much more than plant for the new season, but I think I'd better make an outing for an entire day and try to reach the Volcano summit, to get the two walnuts up there, the shortcut, and the bridge. Almost thought of checking the walnut room first, but that would steal over an hour from the time I could spend in the volcano, potentially the difference between getting to the forge and having to give up on floor 9.

8 walnuts to go (only 2 before I resort to the parrot), 5 fishes to catch (or 10), 2 villagers to befriend (not counting the one I'm courting), and a whole bunch of stuff to craft and monsters to kill. Oh, and one clock to build, but this time around I'm kind of curious to see if that can be done before I'm able to complete all of the other goals. Also curious to see if I can reach perfection while still in year 3. The previous two saves I reached perfection in late Spring of year 4.

Woke up and went to the kitchen to give my wife Abigail a kiss. She said "Are you going to the mines? I have something for you." I spammed the X button to make the conversation go faster. Long story short: she gave me a bomb, it equiped it automatically, and I planted it in the middle of the kitchen where I had starfruit kegs. RIP

Reached the top of the volcano with about 2 hours to spare, but I didn't touch the chest there. Then I reached floor 100 of the Skull Cavern without using too many staircases. Made it with mere minutes to spare. Went down to floor 101 after the scene, and fell asleep. Feels good to finally be able to take either of the two Skull Cavern Qi quests. The prehistoric floor that only had a single bat on it felt like the game did a bait and switch on me.

I had a rainy day the day after I got mail about needing a mermaid pendant if I wanted to propose, so I went and bought it. Still haven't used it. Green rain was predicted for the 15th, so I wanted to wait a bit. More importantly I want to get a wedding outfit before that day. Minerva, my farmer for the previous save wore a bridal veil to the toga outfit I'd got at the desert festival. No toga for my current farmer, Cecilia, and haven't got a single spare ornamental fan. Time to trade a bunch of omni geodes for artifact troves, or maybe make a bunch of treasure totems to use on Ginger Island.

A little bit closer to reaching perfection, but I've still got 3 fish left to catch, 3 monster goals left to reach, 2 villagers not on the "can be ignored" list, and almost as many things left to be crafted. One item left to ship: caviar. No roe from the sturgeon pond yet, even if it's still got just one fish, and I have yet to snag a fishing treasure containing Jewels of the Sea. Kind of hoped to get the book and get the roe from fishing for sturgeon, which is why I waited to make a sturgeon pond, but... Considering how many treasure chests I've caught so far I should have a decent chance, but the RNG keeps missing that book.

Scorpion Carp was the very last fish to be caught on this save, the day after completing an Extended Family quest. Had some definite luck on that quest. The first Legend II had a bonus fish, thanks to using wild bait, and the treasure chest I somehow caught with it had the Jewels of the Sea book. Then I got roe with a sturgeon catch. So when I returned home that night, I emptied my two ponds and turned them into Legend II ponds, with crackers. The sturgeon roe went in the preserve jar I keep in the kitchen for when the raccoons want pickles or jelly, since I don't want to mistake that for something I should sell. I also don't want the caviar making mess up the timing of my preserve jars.

Seems like complaining about the RNG made it happen to spite me. :smug:

Time to propose, as I've finally put the wedding outfit together. I'll work on getting the final stardrop from my spouse while getting the remaining money for the clock, chasing down the remaining monsters, and working on my crafting list. Though maybe I'd better pick some other trinket to use while chasing the monsters. I'm not sure if those killed by the magic quiver count towards the goals.

been playing a bit lately. reorganized my farm a lil. my top left corner is going to be the host of my mushroom/fern tree forest. it's convenient, and also I have been looking into new sources of income. nothing game breaking but definitely interesting, like producing fiddlehead risotto and maki rolls for profit
