Smapi will open, say its starting stardew valley and then close and nothing starts

Thanks for the log.
Did you remove the other mods, or were they never there to begin with?

In a normal install of SMAPI; it should come with the Error Handler, Console Commands and Save Backup mods.
You may want to reinstall SMAPI, and check your anti-virus isn't deleting files from the install if it wasn't you.

I've never modded on stardew before so i had none, I tried making the smapi install file for windows and stardew valley itself an exception from windows antivirus but i still have the same problem. The logs repeatedly say error handler isn't installed, yet when i check the mods folder it is there. It also is not empty either.

I see, that's really strange. Could you post a screenshot of the SDV folder with SMAPI?
It's just very curious that it's not seeing the base mods.

You could try some of the general fixes from the wiki: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Game_doesn.27t_launch
But, as for specifics; I don't recall seeing this type of error before.
