Flute block bugged?

I don’t know if this is a 1.5 iOS bug or not since I never used a flute block before 1.5. When my character presses the block, it makes a continuous, jarring beep beep sound. The sound itself is also unpleasant, not musical at all.

If I recall correctly, you interact with the block to set a note, which changes the more you do it (I assume it cycles eventually). To get the sound effect, run past the flute block. I think the idea is that you can set up several, then run past them and play a little tune.

It won’t play a tune, it just keeps beeping like a car horn. I did get the pitch to change but it keeps going and going.

You do however need to press it for the mermaid puzzle. It’t difficult on the iPad due to the fact that the continuous sounds means you have no audio clue as to how often you’ve pressed the block. Since targeting on the iPad can be ambiguous, counting the number of taps is uncertain since even a slight change in position when tapping the screen can mean the difference between a hit or miss tap.

the flute block sounds like a car horn on my iPad. I initially thought that this may have been due to my indifferent ear for music, so I played the sound for my husband who is musical. He thought that it made a sound akin to the warning noise of a truck backing up.

You're right, it doesn't play a tune and it never will play a tune. This is intended behavior. This is not a bug. One block doesn't play a song. It isn't a flute. It makes a limited range of flute sounds that you can tune, and they fire whenever you are close enough in proximity... and if you remain in proximity it'll keep firing. That's what it does. That's it.

If you want it to make music, make a bunch of them, line them up and tune them... then walk past them. That's how you get the mermaid's golden walnuts on Ginger Island.

I’m pretty sure they are saying they can’t tune them as when they attempt to they are met with a barrage of sound, giving no indication of which note the block is set to.
