i just upgraded it to steel and used it now because i got the bridge repaired. i now was wanting to use it and can't find it. looked in all my chests, maybe 8 chests because i might have put it there accidently. i don't even know how to get another one if i have to... any suggestions? thanks

Have you looked in your fridge and autograbbers?
Do you have some chests around the map that you might have overlooked, maybe in the mines for example?

In Mayor Lewis' house, there is a lost and found box. If you lost it somehow, it should be there.

Wait a minute. I just realized that I can access my friend's backpack while she is offline. Does this mean I could collect all her tools, upgrade them, and then put them back in a chest in her cabin for her to use the next time she logs on?

Yes, you absolutely can do that! You can also use her tools while yours are being upgraded.

Hmm, now I'm not sure if each player has to upgrade their own tools because I usually play alone.

Does Clint not give you the option to select the tools at all?

He did not! I had her steel axe and a stack of gold bars, and my only option was to upgrade my steel trash can. But I also had my iridium axe with me - I'm going to do a trial where I stuff it into a chest first to see if that's enough.

If that doesn't work, not a big deal - she will just have to keep making trips to Clint when she's on.

Another way to do it is if you are on the 27th and don't have anything else that needs to finish growing for the season. I usually aim to finish all my crops a day early just in case something goes wrong and I miss a day of watering.

Update: I am able to upgrade my friend's tools as long as I am not also carrying mine. Hehehehehehe! (This farm is mostly me; she signs on every now and then to chop wood and mine for ore. So I have plenty of down time without her to upgrade all her stuff when she's not online, now that I have figured out how.)

I’m not sure if this works on other platforms, but on switch if you just put your friends tools before yours in your inventory, you can upgrade them.

It does work on PC, I just tried it out last night. I'm so stoked, thanks for the tip!
