The Forge on Ginger Island

Crusader is my favorite by far. It finally gave me a chance to get sweet revenge on those darn mummies. I used to just try to race through the mummy levels as fast as I could, because it always seemed like before I could get a bomb into place they were up and shambling around again. Now combine that with the napalm ring and I just smile when I hit a mummy level...

Hey everyone! Just want to say thanks for helping me with some questions I’ve had about Ginger Island. I recently learned a lot, but I’m trying to figure out what to do with the Forge. I understand how it works (I think ). I guess I’m really just trying to get opinions on what I should do there. I have the Galaxy sword, and I forged a diamond with it. I have and extra prismatic shard, should I use it at the forge for anything? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I would watch a YouTube video on the subject. I found it easier to follow. I liked Wickedy Chickady’s but there are others out there. Most YouTubers seem to do a good job limiting spoilers to the subject at hand.

I have a different forging question. I made my galaxy sword look like my dark sword. It’s not enchanted yet. I haven’t found or purchased any galaxy souls. If I enchant my dark/galaxy sword with 3 galaxy souls will it’s appearance change? Nothing against the look of the infinity weapons, but I chose the dark sword for a reason.

Just like tailoring. I put my dark sword and galaxy sword in the forge, like combining 2 rings. So the sword looks like the dark sword but has the qualities of the galaxy sword- it lost the vampiric enchantment the dark sword comes with. Dark swords are hard to come by, so I don’t want to lose it’s appearance!

Weapon enchantments, in order of value, imho...

#1: Crusader, bonus damage to skeletons/shadows/skulls/mummies, puts mummies down without need for explosives
#2: Vampiric, (ideally with an vampire/iridium band and maybe a burglar/iridium band), late game you can obviate the need for food
#3: Artful, only useful on a hammer or otherwise I'd rate it higher than vampiric, spam that secondary attack like a spam printer go BRRR!

#4: Bug-killer, very situational, only useful for killing indestructible bugs... if you really wanted to. Otherwise not all that useful. Who needs bonus damage to bugs, really?

#💩: Haymaker... ugh... really? By the time you can get to the Forge, you should be able to get the golden scythe. Use your scythe. Don't turn your weapon into a scythe.
Haymaker allows your sword a chance to get 1 extra fiber from fiber weed and gives you a chance to get hay from fiber weeds as well. If you go to mines level 20s and 80s where it has fiber weeds you can actually rack up a good amount of fiber and extra hay even in winter where you’d need it most. Sure its not combat suited but some may find taking care of their animals easier this way.

I got haymaker first try on my first playthrough, then me and my boy both got haymaker first try on our co-op, and I got haymaker on my second save. Second on all 3 was vampiric.

I only had 3 shards so started resetting the day for tool enchants and kept getting efficient every time on pick (I use swift), so I tried the axe - efficient, then powerful on pick, 3 times in a row! I think it's not random, but on a preset rota! So if you enchant your stuff in a particular order, you can effectively choose which chants to get without wasting shards! I got reaching on hoe, swift on pick and axe. I couldn't get shaving to come up so will try later when I get more prismatics.

Interested to see if anyone can have a mess around and confirm this 👍

Yes, it absolutely is a preset rotation. The predictor tool can tell you what you'll get. No need to mess around.
Some people-including myself-consider the predictor or really any predictor for that matter to be slightly cheaty.

The game and therefore the predictor also chooses between two variables for enchantment options too.

Ginger, this may a bit off topic and I am still pretty new to this game, but since you say you screwed up using your prismatic to get haymaker I will say this. Forgive me if you already know....

I have 17 crystalariums all making jade. It takes about two days to make them, so I am getting roughly around 60 plus jade each week. On Sundays the desert trader will give you a staircase for each jade. So around every ten days or so, when I get a good fortune report, I go to skull caverns and staircase my way down to around level 60 (keeping my eyes open for patches of iridium, gold, and iron on the way down) and then I clear areas that are not too mob infested with bombs. I have done this twice now and got 3 prismatics the first time and 2 the second along with over 100 iridium ore (combined for both runs) along with lots of gold and iron. The gold is handy for making more crystalariums and the iron for bombs.

Okay, every time someone mentions the predictor we don't need someone making a judgmental post telling everyone that someone thinks it is cheating. We get it. Do you go to the Mods forum and tell them all that they're cheating for exploiting the game in other ways? I doubt it. Please, stop. We don't need the reminder every time and I'm getting tired of the double standard.

This is not what I’m getting at, you are giving information in quite a judgemental way yourself and I was just stating what the person who posted the thread might have as bias against it.

Even more annoying than the people who state their opinions on modding are the ones who verbally enforce their own wants of opinionated suppression upon others.

Just because it’s stated doesn’t necessarily mean or lead to another thing of greater magnitude.

And while I say it’s cheaty it’s not in the way that I care what others may do.
I mean it more in the way of ruining certain integrity that a save may hold for someone if they care about that.

if not, go ahead, I very often encourage themouse y pound and blade predictor for usage if people want or need it.

I was just stating something that may be applicable to the person who posted it.

My two cents on the topic:

Rubies on a weapon seem naturally intuitive, and that was my initial go-to default. However, unless that increase in damage actually results in fewer swings being required, it doesn't actually have much of a benefit. I generally prefer to put Emerald on my hammer, because then I can swing faster and most enemies are dying in one or two hits anyway. Topaz would actually not be horrible either, more defense is more better.

As far as tools, I generally don't use most of them by the time I get up to the Forge except my pickaxe. My hoe and watering can are hung up after my first spring when I get access to sprinklers. My axe I use less and less as I generally just talk to Robyn and pay her rates for lumber, so the only trees I ever use are Mahogany if I need hardwood for the boat repair. I have an unreasonable and pathological hatred for fishing. So the only tool I bother enchanting is the pickaxe. And while both power and swift are extremely useful, I think Efficient is a very overlooked enchantment.

A previous poster stated that Vampiric with a Vampiric ring effectively negates food consumption. I disagree, because you're still going to run out of energy mining. And how do you spend energy? The pickaxe. Now you effectively have infinite energy while diving. Now THAT is how to eliminate the necessity of food on a dive!

I’m wondering why you use a pickaxe much after accessing the forge.

bombs and ammo exist and are vastly superior.

Rings and vampiric won’t keep you alive most of the time.

Not sure how much you know about all the options available. Two important things you need are cinder and prismatic shards. The cinder shards you get from The Volcano and the prismatics from Skull caverns. The deeper you can descend into Sc, the more prismatic shards are likely to drop.

Here is what I do.

I concentrate on getting crystalariums in order to make staircases to make descending in Skull caverns easier. I use jade in the crystalariums to process jade. On Sundays the Desert Trader will give you a staircase for each jade you give him.

My first priority at the Forge is to get the Crusader upgrade on my Galaxy sword. There are many levels in Sc that have skeletons and mummies and often these levels have lots of good stuff to get. The Crusader upgrade allows you to easily kill the mummies and skeletons (which do not respawn).

I also use lots of bombs. This makes getting the items you want, like gold, iridium, and other things much easier. I get the four dwarf scrolls as soon as I have access to Sc. I can then buy bombs from the Dwarf trader in the Volcano.

With lots of bombs and staircases getting prismatic shards, along with many other useful items, from Sc is much easier.
