Best Generic NPCs ( the ones you cant befriend)

Who are some of your favourite generic NPCs in the game that you cant befriend . I think the govener is pretty epic and the guy at the desert casino always blocking the arcade slot machine

I always wanted more interactions with the Adventurer's Guild duo. I wonder what sort of stories Marlon and Gil got to tell. Gil is hard to impress with our monster-hunting prowess so maybe he has an impressive number under his belt. Marlon apparently lost his eye in the mines and has an unrequited interest in Marnie.
The old mariner also makes me want to learn more about him.

In addition to what everyone has already said, I love the witch, the pig cart, and the desert trader. I also like the night market artist, the tourists, the crane game guy, and the joja clerk!

The JoJa clerk is someone I've wondered for a while. Who is she? Does she come from Zuzu every day to work there? Maybe another farmer? who knows

The witch, pig cart and desert trader seem to have a lot of potential too, especially the first one. We know that she is Raz's ex and he made a mistake...

They are obvious from the little hints the game gives you that they are friends or perhaps compatriots but how, when, and why?

Is Qi like a son of grandpa and your uncle?
Are the business partners, or grandpa being in a mentorship role.

Whenever I do a long term farm, which admittedly isn't often, I always make the effort to go to the Night Market just to buy all 9 paintings from him
