Post your silliest challenge runs!

There is one NPC whose heart events give you the absolute best return on investment when choosing the anger options and that's Penny. Not once but twice can you lose 1500 relationship points with her, at 8 hearts and 10 hearts. Which results in 6 full hearts lost for each event. And now you need some serious dedication to get those hearts back...
Wow, I never noticed that. I'll definitely have to try out that challenge again with her.

It takes true dedication to be the biggest jerk in town, doesn't it? 😉😂🤣

I play on mobile, so while waiting for the update, I've learned the game really well. I tend to finish everything quickly. So I just started a new farm where I'm forcing myself to go more slowly. The whole first year, I'm just going to make money, gain skills, and collect resources. I'm going to wait until year 2 to start the community center, work on friendships, build coop/barn, or expand my house. Kind of an un-challenge!

I did a run a while back. I completed it, it was really fun the one and only rule is to not expend any energy. That means the traveling cart is your best friend and get used to your only income for a while being forageables and trash cans. After you get a sprinkler and some bombs from the traveling cart it gets much easier. But this will take a long time and prioritizing what you want, crops or levels in mining, as mining levels allows you to produce your own bombs but money from crops help you buy more bombs and sprinklers. I'm new here but I'll start posting my challenge ideas to this thread as I do them. Maybe some I declared impossible may not be so impossible with more people thinking on it. I'm looking at you my crab pots only run. That's one for another day though see ya all soon

Been playing this one and writing about it: no farming and no animals, including not buying anything (except backpack upgrades) from Pierre, no mixed seeds and other free seeds allowed either.

Been very different and more relaxed in a sense, since I don't have the extra stress of planing seeds and taking care of plants most days, with day 1-2 of a new season being especially hectic. But sadly also found out that this restriction means it's impossible to finish the CC (without going Joja route), and Ginger Island is also therefore locked out permanently.

Sadly I seem to have overplayed the game now, and find myself wandering around with nothing to do really. It's all just a grind, whether you have this or that restriction. But it was fun to play like this for a while, and particularly the early game is very different, with much more reliance on fishing. If I try something similar again, maybe will have to allow mixed seeds and maybe even wild seeds, as that may allow the CC to be completed (not sure actually). However, a playstyle like this was very fitting for the Riverlands farm, and I didn't find it restricting or difficult at all.

Not sure this is a "silly challenge". 🙃

So for a little while now me and my mother have been planning out a "no vendors run" were you can't buy anything that isn't considered a service, the services would include tool upgrades (excluding the fishing rod from willy since you do buy that instead of providing money and materials to have the service done) buildings (though most would be useless since you can't buy animals from marnie. At least till ginger Island then you have the ostriches as an option) and we've also decided it to be a service if you take the joja route. So with those rules in place we're having trouble with two things. A being hard wood for Willys boat but that can be circumvented fairly easily by getting tool upgrades (the only reason services are aloud for the run) and B the lack of available seeds. Which we've thought the best way to get around is by using either four corners or the forest farm for its fiber that gives mixed seeds all the time (once you recognize them it's easy enough to get a farm for the seeds going) I'd like to hear if anyone else can think of potential issues with the run, and yes ginger Island trader would be considered a vendor as would the dessert trader.

I grindy and unrewarding way to get hardwood is through breaking the crates and barrels in the mines which sometimes can drop a few hardwood at a time.
You can also get dinosaurs and void chickens without ever buying them, and they are before ginger island in most scenarios.

As long as you can get tool upgrades, hardwood won't be a problem. You can even get 'free' seeds from killing slimes in the secret wood, and ofc you have the stumps there. But if tool upgrades weren't allowed, you can't even access that place, nor remove the stumps on the farm, so that would be a hard lock I suppose.

Suppose the traveling cart is considered a shop and not a service? That makes seeds or random things for the CC much more difficult. It's pretty much a hard block in my own no-farming, no animals game, despite using the traveling cart. The chance for the correct veg or fruit showing up is very small. By using mixed seeds and wild seeds, much is available, but not everything. It's possible to get things in the mail from friendly villagers, but again the chance isn't great, and it could be a big waiting game.

Are you planning to do the Joja route? Because (assuming the travelling cart counts as a shop) you won't be able to complete the community centre this way, and you need to complete either the community center or Joja to unlock Willy's boat.

No we arent planning on joja, but that said we're using remixed bundles and assuming best case senerio (stuff like sticky bundle and other ones that would be possible) but you raise a good point.
