Where did you find your first Prismatic Shard?

Hill Myna

Farmer
Hello @iridium quality! Welcome back to the Forums, nice to meet you!

My farmer was freezing on Floor 45, mining for Iron, fighting Dust Sprites for Coal, gearing up to take on Skull Cavern...but with Bombs.

There was nothing special about this Floor; my farmer had been working for 3 days-straight, eager beyond imagination to get his hands on the precious purple power ore that only the treacherous Skull Cavern possessed.

But then one of the humble Dust Sprites, impossible to single out amongst it's herd of dust buddies, was crushed with a blow so hard (such was the intent of the farmer) that it transcended mere Coal, zoomed through Diamond and, released of its Carbon form, and rocketed up to the peak of all minerals, the Prismatic Shard.

The delight of the farmer temporarily lifted the Iridium Curse from his mind, and he thought of other, still purple, but decidedly sharper objects.

Foolishly, instead of mastering his melee, the farmer stowed away this precious gem stone, it was never to be seen again.

But upon returning to the 'Cavern (this time with innumerable explosives), despite his previous folly, he struck gold again, and a feeble Serpent willingly dropped its rainbow tooth.

This time, he heeded the advice of his Dwarfen predecessors, and the Shard was transformed into something much greater.

–––––

Needless to say, the Iridium Curse only grew stronger from that day on...

Can't recall how or where I got the very first prismatic shard, but in the last save it dropped from a random enemy in the regular mines. That was a huge surprise, because the chance is only 0.05% after reaching the bottom.

It was from a mystic stone from the quarry. At the time, I did not know what this stone was and believed it was one of the fabled iridium nodes that I had never seen before either.
And I was conforted in this opinion by getting iridium ores on top of the Prismatic Shard (that I did not know yet what to do with). It took me several in-game days to find out I was wrong.

Aah... the genuity of the first playthrough... 🥰

I have no idea where I got the first one from my original save, that was 4 years ago or something. Likely the Mines and I think I donated it to the Museum not knowing any better. You can imagine what I thought when finding it had a slightly more OP use... At least I got to use a nice progression of other stickpins and toothpicks to defend myself from the various underground nibblers, and I developed a very healthy respect and abject fear of Skull Cavern.

And because of that I generally don't go to SC until I get a Prizzie, so the first one is from the Mines in pretty much every save nowadays.

I'm almost sure that I got my very first PS from a mystic stone in the quarry at my first visit there after the Junimos repaired the bridge.
In my second last save, it was a slime in the secret forest that dropped it.
But in my current save I got one from the rainbow trouts in the fish pond - not the first one, but the first time this way.

I always donate my first rocks to the museum and haven't felt especially bad about it even in early game when the sale price is enough to sometimes matter... but I'm a museum completionist.

I occasionally wish for more books, though more for the odd lore than the useful game hints.

Honestly probably cheating it in with the good old renamed item Id cheat.

I was not a good little mobile player on my first save, form then on I’ve never cheated for anything but a showcase in any game really, I’ve made it a goal in my life, both in stardew and irl.

Spring 28 Year 1. Had gotten 5 Omni geodes on the Iron levels in the mine, which is the furthest I've gotten there. Also have 3 normal geodes. Usually I pop them from least rare to most rare, but here I went with Omnis first. First one opens, and out comes a freakin' Prismatic shard! Holy Rainbow Unicorn!!! 😍

Not even sure if it's possible to take that baby over to the desert, once the bus service is restored, and get a certain something without knowing any of the previous clues or steps. But for the challenge, I may just hold on to it for a loooong while. It has been oddly fun to go fairly deep in the mine with only the weapons I've gotten as rewards. Takes two hours to kill a ghost with 1+ damage a pop, but you know.... 😆 (they must have some defence stat, because the sword is meant to do 4-8 damage).

You can get the item as soon as you visit the desert, you don't need anything else but the shard to get it.

What Elenna said, but to be clear, you don't need a note or anything, just go and get it...

...but also, yes, monsters have a defense stat just as you do.
