!!!SPOILER WARNING FOR SOLUTION!!!

So! Given this image:

The green square in front of the house (this will be Sam's house, you can tell by the picture if you compare it) indicates where you want to start, and the arrows indicate where to go to find a secret item. You need to move your Farmer in the indicated direction until they can't go in that direction any further, and at the end, use your pickaxe to pick up the secret item. At the end of the sequence, you should wind up behind Lewis's house and you will find his secret art project...a golden statue of himself...

In the end, you have the option to return the item to its owner...but honestly screw him, it's a great trophy instead and only gets you 750g of hush money if I recall correctly.

Hope this helps!

I just face the correct direction and use a charged up hoe. That way aim isn't important when you can't see what you're doing.

Thanks to you both...but nope! NOTHING!! 😤 I am so frustrated....I've used the charged up hoe. I've tried standing and facing all 4 directions in the correct spot...nothing...I've got way too much time invested in this particular game save to start it over... 1st game with over 180hours of game time... Plus I can't find secret note #10..only one I'm missing...

I don't have the answer to your troubles, but I can assure you that the reward is a "bonus" easter egg, rather than being "essential" to gameplay. It won't stop you from achieving in-game completion, unless you want to fully "100%" Stardew.

#10 is only obtainable once you've completed Qi's Challenge, which requires you to reach Floor 25 in Skull Cavern.

To unlock Skull Cavern, you'll need to complete the Vault and reach the bottom of the Mines.

Once you've completed Qi's Challenge, I'd recommend attempting to grow a Giant Crop, because those will always give you Secret Notes.

Hope this helps!

Make sure you’ve got the right house! I spent some time starting from entirely the wrong place. Though if you’ve checked the wiki you’ve probably got that covered.
Once I had the right start, right-click (whatever control you use to talk to villagers) at the spot I ended up in did it, IIRC. I agree with Hill Myna, it’s fun but not essential.

If this is the one I'm remembering I had a lot of trouble for many days of trying to get this but eventually did. It's quite an annoyance and I usually just skip it on subsequent playthroughs.

You don't necessarily have to follow the directions to get there, once you know the endpoint (which you do if you read these other comments) then my guess is that you could just go straight there and use your hoe/pickaxe until you find it. Pretty sure that's what I did.

If it works like the other step by step map note (for the lucky charm), you can't get the thing until after the secret note, even if you know where to look. I tend to get the most secret notes chopping weeds, fishing, breaking boulders, or from scything the ice crystals in the mine.

You don't even need it for 100% completion, the criteria don't even need most of the secret notes to be found or completed, though they most likely all will with the labour that comes with it.
@Hawkgirl6511
You can get the secret notes easily with giant crops, grown from a single grown watered crop with 8 surrounding tiles being the crop in any stage of growth watered or not.
These can be made of cauliflower, melon and pumpkin, all in each of the growing seasons respectively.
Breaking one of these has a 100% chance to drop a secret note if you have one unknown, if this doesn't work come back and we will delve further but this is a near guarantee and if it does not then there is soething wrong with your save file through the game "thinking" you have discovered the note.

By fully "100%", I meant like how you can beat the final boss in a game without finishing all the sidequests, thus not "100%-ing" it, if you see what I mean. :)

This will have to be done with either Iridium Sprinklers, Pressure-Nozzled Quality Sprinklers 😝, or an upgraded Watering Can's charge move.

Unless you can choose to use a Watering Can rather than harvesting crops on PC? This certainly can't be done on consoles.

na, you can do it with a basic watering can with lower odds and copper for lower odds over a few days, just water the center crop, the only advantage to doing more though is the larger chance per less crop so higher returns.

NO! I think I may have already gotten it and given it to the turd mayor as it's nowhere to be found...grrr 😖....🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
If you gave him the note without reading it, you'll find another one. You keep finding the notes until you read them.

If you had already found the reward and given that to him (by leaving it in the town, I don't think you can gift it), it's either in his bedroom or in Marnie's bedroom. If a villager walked through it, it's destroyed. But in any of these cases, you can see the note in your collection.
