Solved [BUG] Multiplayer game crashes on day end

Hi guys,

So we're having this weird issue in multiplayer where the game crashes after we've gone to sleep for the day. It has happened twice already, after playing through the same day. Nothing extraordinary happens either - we tend to the farm, Ginger Island and the Skull Cave. The host's game crashes before getting to the tally, and the guest gets a black screen, then booted out as well.

No error message, no mods, multiplayer, version 1.5.

I'm attaching the error logs for both the host and the guest. Both crashes generated identical logs.

Any ideas?

I don't know a whole lot about this, but a good place to start would be to double-check that both of you are on v1.5.6. the guest error log says they are on v1.5.5 which is not the most recent version. I can't find the game version for the host, but I can tell that it did not generate identical logs. The host log states:

Message: Error on new day:
---------------
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

The guest log states:

Message: Error on new day:
---------------
Exception of type 'StardewValley.AbortNetSynchronizerException' was thrown.

They are similar logs but are not the same. I personally don't know how to fix this issue but there are those on the forum who do, so if updating to the most recent game version doesn't fix the issue then they might be able to help you.

We're both on the same version definitely, but it's also definitely not the latest one. It's from a year or so two years ago - we never bothered updating since it's from GOG so I'd have to basically reinstall it and I'm deathly affraid of losing the farm. Not much sense in delaying it now, though. Thanks!

As long as you backup your save files then it shouldn't delete them as far as I know.

Yup, they're alive and well! For anyone encountering the same problem - we did two things: updated the game to the latest version, and completely skipped the day in question (went right back to bed after getting up).

I'm glad that you got it working! I had a feeling it was something simple like that, it often is. Anyways, cheers, and happy gaming, I hope you have an excellent day!
