Eat hops!

I don't think that's realistic... I've never eaten a raw hop in real life personally but apparently they make you sick in anything other than beer. And they can make you sick in beer too. Remember to use in moderation, kids!
Argh. Realism. Do not get me started.

For example (see, got me started)

THAT IS NOT HOW A SPINNING WHEEL WORKS!
You don't plop raw, unwashed, uncombed wool onto a spinning wheel and get FABRIC. Just, no. No.

I was also thinking how none of my farmers ever has lactose intolerance or shellfish allergy as part of their random stats. Or coeliac disease, so walking through a field of wheat could kill them.

That sounds more like an allergy than Celiac, unless they eat the wheat. Which could be a challenge to include in the game: Not being allowed to eat foods with a certain allergen. Like you can't eat anything made with shellfish, or wheat. You could take it a step further and say you can't cook them, but that would make certain achievements impossible.

As a Canadian, I feel required to tell you that the stuff that maple syrup farms get out of maple trees is *not* maple syrup. It's maple sap, which has the consistency and look of water. To get maple syrup, they boil it in giant vats for hours until almost all of the water evaporates - to get, say, 1 cup of maple syrup you generally need 40+ cups of sap. (Google tells me it depends on what kinds of trees you have in the area, but it's around that, anyways.)

Yeah, realism is not really a thing in this game. And anyways, making it hyper-realistic with all the tiny nitpicky details would destroy a lot of the fun.

(And no, I don't do any farming or make maple syrup in real life. I did go on multiple field trips to maple syrup farms as a kid, because Ontario.)

Yeah, in the end all games need to give up on some loads of realism for the sake of engaging gameplay and some measure of in-game balance. Stardew is no different. In FPS, either you or your adversaries are exceptionally hard to take out, frequently with the player ending up being Superman by the end. Yes, there's a big Boss and sure, there's a kryptonite, but c'mon... c'mon...

You know ol' Sup's gonna win eventually.

So next year the devs can make Quest To Be Superman 2 - The Search For More Money.
